Those are adorable! I think I might make some to use as hot pads for the kitchen.

You did such a great job with the fabric design placement; I always forget to do that.
3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Latest News / Re: 4/1/09 - Macrame is Back-rame! on: April 01, 2009 03:04:27 PM
The truly sad part is that I was excited for .2 of a second. At 30 years old, I missed macrame the first time around (except for that weird lawn chair fad in the early 90's) and am happily making plant holders for my porch. I cannot wait to scour the yard sales this year for all the 'worthless' patterns!  Grin

I didn't know pop tabs came in different colors! Very cool.

Oh, TheBon.  How i envy your crafty and organized ways.

...and your shoes, too.  Cheesy

Part of the allure of the shoes was that I will get to wear them constantly after the wedding. Plus, I'd wanted a pair of fluevogs for years but couldn't justify the cost...Until the wedding came along.

I've loved Fluevog's shoes for awhile now; you're right- a wedding is the perfect excuse....I'm off to search Zappos right now. Also, my compliments on some fabulous diy wedding crafts!
Oh thank you!
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Vintage Craft Projects / Re: Million and one on: April 11, 2007 05:58:29 PM
Lucky girl. I inherited some from my Grandma and made a dress from one. I think you should go ahead and use them if you want- that's why they were made!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! Secretly- it was kind of a pain in the buttocks; the zipper is smack in the middle of the back and the v-neck collar is kinda inset into the fabric. Totally weird. But I've got quite a few patterns and I can't wait to try again!

So, my Grandma died last fall and as a sort of weird homage to her, her daughters and granddaughters all made red dresses for the funeral. We did this because she taught our family to sew and her favorite color was red.
Anyway, I inherited her patterns, so I used one of them to make my dress (with a lot of help from my mom!).
The pattern is Butterick 7750

And here's me in my dress....I added waitress cuffs because the sleeves seemed a little blah as they were.

And a big thanks to my dog for getting in the shot!
