11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / "I Love Derren Brown" Tote (and others) on: July 31, 2006 12:34:08 PM
For those of you who don't live in the UK, you probably have no clue who Derren Brown is... but never mind, you can enjoy the pics anyway!

My friend came round today and we went crazy and made a load of stuff. Here is the 'I <3 Derren Brown' Tote, which actually has a white lining with red polka dots, although you can't really see it in the picture. It also has a ribbon closure.

We had so much fabric left we made a whole set of stuff - we also made a purse, a really long cushion/pillow thing and a headband.

Here is another tote that I made for another friend's birthday from before. It has a hibiscus appliqued on.

12  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / shell dagger earrings on: April 04, 2006 04:10:21 AM
Eh, haven't made anything for the longest time, but recently made these earrings:

Still deciding whether to keep them or give them away....

Comments/Suggestions welcome  Cheesy
13  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / half baked! (image heavy) on: November 29, 2005 10:07:39 AM
Here's some of the stuff that I made for the craft fair I did last weekend
(sorry if the pictures are a little big and blurry - i was in a rush to get a picture of them all before I left the house)

These have little stars on the second glass pearl, although you can't see them very well in this picture

14  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My Light Emitting Painting on: November 12, 2005 09:33:30 AM
Okay, it doesn't really emit light, but I swear when you stand infront of it for too long you start to get this feeling that there blue light coming from it. The painting is so blue that I am always reminded of that 'True Blue' song by Bright Eyes.

Anyway, I did it as one of my final pieces for GCSE art (Exam you take in the UK when you are 16, studied over a period of two years, coursework is also included). The topic was 'Natural Form', as in flowers and fruits and stuff, but I veered off and painted some snakes. I also had to bring in two artists that 'influenced' me (it's a requirement for the final piece) and I hope you can see Hockney in there, if not Chihuly.

So. Here it is, in all its light emitting glory:

Yeah, its crazy. Comments/Critiques welcome, as always.
15  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / shell disc pieces on: October 04, 2005 10:06:52 AM
I live in the UK and want to know where you can buy those small shell discs for jewellery making (that aren't extortionately priced).

If you know any English websites or stores around London that sell those, it would be really helpful.

Thanks.  Smiley
16  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / First craft fair, would like some advice please! on: September 22, 2005 10:45:01 AM
Right, so my first craft fair is coming up in November (it's the yearly Christmas Craft fair that runs at my school). I am sharing the table with my friend who is selling bags and purses. Unfortunately, I have never actually been to the craft fair and have no idea what it is like. I have asked around and people say that it gets quite a lot of traffic.

I'm a total newbie at this, so if you could all give me some advice it would be great.  Smiley

First up is the display. I am selling jewellery (mainly earrings) and am stuck on how to present it. The tables are about 2m long and I am wondering whether I will have to make a board or something along those lines. My friend and I were thinking about a white tablecloth (as it compliments all our products) with some simple embroidery on the front to attract attention.

Another question is how much to make/bring? I have absolutely no idea how much I will sell, so I plan on making as much as I can.

Um, so, basically all general advice would be welcome!
17  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Monopoly Money on: September 19, 2005 10:28:05 AM
I recently bought this really old Monopoly set from my local charity shop, and was planning to make stuff from the parts inside. However, I don't really know what to do with the Monopoly money. So far, I have made some coasters and am thinking about laminating some and putting them on keyrings, but what else?

Any ideas?

Thanks.  Smiley
