22  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Halloween Felt Purses Woo-Hoo!! on: September 14, 2004 08:01:16 PM
Oh yeah!!! These are my masterpieces. Please check out the links . These have been inspired by all the wacky felt things that I've seen here on Craftster. The first one is an orange cat

and the next is supposed to be a black bat

They are both made of felt and sewed by hand with the good ol' blanket stitch. I did a quickie single crochet with cotton thread for the straps. I think I am most proud of these because they are the first patterns that I made up in my head, drew out and then cut and stitched. I got the faces from the old antique German Halloween decorations that I have loved for years.

Let me know what you guys think. My next one is going to be a red glitter felt devil!! I'll post it when it's done.

I am speedballing on crafts right now so watchout!!!
23  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / I got it! on: August 26, 2004 10:16:00 AM
I woke up this morning and was trying to think of a way that we as humans could put a stop to all the fightin' & fuedin' that's going on in the world right now. Ya know what all those warring countries need? Shrinky-Dinks my friends...Am I right or am I right?? Think about it, everybody would be so busy coloring and looking for things to trace that they'd be too busy to shoot and kill and...people would have to learn to share! You couldn't finish that really cool picture you traced of Sponge Bob or Hello Kitty unless the person next to you shared their yellow & pink markers with you. You would simply have to communicate and cooperate with each other in order to finish your project.

I know this is nothing new, but dammit we need more crafting in this world!

Thanks for listening to me rant.

24  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Cheap eyelets on: June 28, 2004 11:58:06 AM
I found a good site for very reasonably priced eyelets. ( low shipping costs too)

25  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Oriental Trading on: May 17, 2004 04:17:25 PM
I put a post up a while ago looking for metal lunch boxes. Just when I was ready to give up...Lo and behold Oriental Trading Catalog came along!! It is the most recent "Sensational Crafts" catalog. On the back of the book it says 2004 Craft #60299P1. They have 4.25" x 5.5" white metal lunch boxes. $2.95 ea. or 12 for $2.50 ea. (they're on page 54)

They also have some pretty cool crocheted mirrors, butterflies & flowers that would be oh-so-fabulous and crafty.

You can check out their website too: www.orientaltrading.com

26  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Ladybugs...for real ones on: April 30, 2004 02:02:34 PM
I stumbled across a miniature graveyard of dead ladybugs that are almost all perfectly preserved. I scooped them up (cause I collect dead stuff) and plan to use them for some kind of decopage project. I was thinking of spraying some kind of shellac on them to seal em and then gluing them to something. Anybody have any other suggestions? They really are beautiful.

PS- I am now a "full member" of Craftster and feelin' pretty good about it right now.

Can anyone direct me to a website that sells (in bulk) ring mountings that have a flat disc on top. I'm looking to glue stuff onto them and make funky rings, but dang if I can find someone that sells them! I just bought some on Ebay, but I need MORE!!!

Could somebody point me in the right direction? I am looking to buy those cute, little round and square metal lunch boxes for decoupage. Any ideas or past entries on Craftster that you could suggest?

30  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Looking for plain metal lunch boxes on: March 14, 2004 07:31:48 PM
Does anyone have a supplier that they'd recommend for getting the round & square metal boxes w/ handles? I like to decoupage them and I'm looking to buy in bulk.
