2801  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: A Very Dishalicious Gallery for knit dishcloths! :-) on: March 08, 2007 02:09:07 PM
I sent mine out yesterday. Hopefully they'll get to my partner by the weekend!

Mine, too, though I'm with you--I wasn't quite ready for the adventure this time around.  I've bookmarked some scarves I wanted to try, so once I figure this pattern out, I'm hoping to try to bigger and better things!

Where is everyone finding that great pattern for the entrelac dishcloth? It's a technique I'd love to learn, but not for this swap. The sendout date is in 2007, after all, and I am SO not that fast a knitter. Everyone's cloths look great so far, by the way!

I think this is the website for the dishcloth:  http://criminyjickets.blogspot.com/2006/07/garterlac-dishcloth.html

I am a very spoiled, very happy recipient of a swap package from maiziemama  (whose amazingly fast knitting skills are also formidably admired!)

Now, the goodies:

The whole package:

You will notice that maizemama had the great idea to include the patterns of the dishclothes she made for me so I could make more!

Here's a closeup of one of the dishcloths.

And here's a semi-closeup of the entrelac dishcloth (I LOVE it!)
(And I also took a much better picture of this one, but my photo account is, of course, acting up, so I will post this and post a clearer one as soon as it starts cooperating again...)

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, I stumbled upon this perfect, sweet smelling surprise:  felted soap!!!!!!

I am very, very, VERY estatic. I love the dishcloths and the soap was a wonderful extra to brighten my day!  Thanks maiziemama for being such a wonderful partner!

(Now, back to the knitting where my slowpoke hands can slowpoke some more..)

Blondiekate, if power goes out, you just need to get you some of those new battery operated light up knitting needles they have! roflmao
I hope you stay safe and warm all of you who are getting hit with the snow/ice. We just went thru all that mess last week here in Virginia.
Hugs
Elphie
(Who hates to admit she actually bought a pair of the aforementioned needles in case I ever find myself without enough light to knit!!!!!)

Haha - what a fantastic idea!  I've seen those needles before, Elphie.. Have you tried them yet?  Any reviews?

And I've been complaining about the weather, I'll stop now!  North Carolina rains a lot, but no power outages!

Actually, I live in North Carolina and a couple of years ago, when we actually got snow, incidentally, it knocked out power for about a week.  It was awful!

Still looking at which patterns I want to use.  We've had power outages around here, so it's been hard to get out.

BlondieKate:  Power outages?  Snow?

It's so hard to believe. We've hardly seen a drop of snow here and it's been sixty degrees.

We've got some fast knitters in our group it seems!

OR, in my case, at least, rather obsessed knitters! I may not be in the fastest rabbit in the bunch but I am always knitting in my mind.

Wow, someone's sent already?!? I am so impressed! I've just had a NASTY bout with the flu, so I'm still picking out yarn. I'm ready to rock, though. After 2 days of being practically comatose, I'm so excited to be getting back into the swing of things.

P.S.-- Doesn't it sound like I have an awesome partner?    Grin

That's MY partner that's sent all ready--way to put the pressure on, right?!

I'm a little more than halfway done.. I should have mine out within the week (I hope!!!)

Hi all- came down with horrid cold today-am feeling rotten. Will have partners matched up and posted tomorrow. Thanks for your understanding. :-)
Elphie

Elphie--I hope you feel better!!!  When I am down with a cold, I always run out and get some Cold Calm (it's a natural, homepathic medicine).  I take it for about a day and I can't tell you how much better I feel the next day.

Get plenty of rest!
