1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / A much needed new bag on: August 11, 2008 09:31:56 PM
I finished a bag that I started last week. It's going to replace a red one that was one of my first bags that I made. I stopped at the handle(s) but ended up only doing one. Tonight I put all the pieces together.  Now that I have worn it on my shoulder I will already be revamping to two black cotton webbing straps since I don't have any more material. It's too wide to really work with only one strap.

I made this bag from an old pair of jeans that I loved but had to say good-bye (it made my rear look great)and some really cool batik that looks like bubbles. I used the two back pockets as for the outside pockets and some of the back legs as inside pockets. I think once I fix the handle I'm going to really fall in love.

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / 6 Pairs of Jean that don't fit...I had to do something on: July 30, 2008 03:25:05 PM
After I went through all the fabric samples I got from my mother (1st post, https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=259014.msg2898218#msg2898218, 2nd post: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=259933.msg2909987#msg2909987) and made what I could with those I was looking at 6 pairs of jeans that I have collected from my own closet as well as  from others who were going to give them to good will. I had a few ideas but none were motivating me to take action until I started my "idea book".

So last night after I had gotten my son to bed I went into my craft room and went through all my fabric. I noticed that my pile of 1/2 yards were piling up. So I decided to make tote bags with the jeans and 1/2 yards. it's a simple design with no pockets in the inside but there is one that I added to the outside from the pockets of the jeans.

For this being my first one it's on the smaller side (using the bottom part of the legs) and next time I will make it larger (the top sections of the legs) so I can add more of the pockets from the jeans. I'm also going to use cotton webbing for the handles to certain bags if the colors work. For this one's handles I used what little fabric I had left after using it for the lining.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / 5 New Clutches on: July 28, 2008 01:57:30 PM

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Reuseable Grocery Bags on: July 23, 2008 08:40:16 PM
I recently came across some really cheap fabric (heavy cotton $1 a yard at Walmat), some from my Mother (fabric samples from a mattress store that covers futon mattress') and free fabric from my cousin. So I decided to make reusable grocery bags.

It's a really simple design that I modeled after a paper bag from the grocery store. It isn't lined because I really didn't see the point and they are washable.

Fabric samples. Each picture shows each side. I had to use two panels to complete a bag. They came out really cool.

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / 6 New Clutches (image heavy) on: July 23, 2008 08:25:10 PM
I have been a busy girl the last few days I have had off from work. Today I made 6 clutches from fabric samples that my mom sent me. She makes Teddy bears out of them but she has so much now that I have taken them off her hands.

There was a bunch in the last batch that weren't big enough for purses or reusable grocery bags (that I usually use this fabric for) so I made clutches out of them.

Here are 6 that I made today.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My version of the recycled neck tie purse/bag on: July 15, 2008 08:44:31 PM
I have been spending a lot of time just roaming around craftster and an across others making bags out of neck ties. I wanted to try my hand at it and after getting ties from my Dad and Husband I came up with this creation. I used 10 ties and for the lining I had some fabric samples my Mom sent me. I had to use two differnt colors because I didn't have two of the same but I really like how it turned out.

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A Diaper Bag for a co-worker (IMG Heavy) on: April 18, 2008 05:09:50 PM
My coworker Danielle and her fiance were having problems looking for the right diaper bag. I think it was the fact that they were having a girl and her fiance didn't want to carry around a pink diaper bag. They both looked in stores and online and really didn't find anything they really liked.

So I asked what they wanted. My requirements for the bag were simple, messenger style and a color scheme that would allow for Dad to walk around and not have the bag be pink.

Here are the results:
Front of bag.

With the front flap up.

I slipped a pocket for keys or extra space that you can get to quickly on the outside flap of the bag.

The back of the bag with a large pocket.

Close up of back pocket.

I lined the inside of the bag with clear vinyl so that if there were any spills it would be easy to clean up.

Outside side pockets for bottles.

Here I am modeling the bag. I have to say, I really liked out this turned out. I might make myself one when I get pregnant again.

Then I added some other pouches for small trips.

This one is the mini diaper bag for a few diapers and a small container of wipes. I found this helpful when I didn't want to take the whole bag to the bathroom.

This one is the mommy pouch/clutch. I always hated going from one purse to the other. I found this to be another nice touch if I just wanted to go somewhere and not have to change purses.

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / The Back Pocket Wallet on: February 27, 2008 08:35:24 PM
I was getting tired of carrying my larger wallet in my apron when I was working so I decided to make a smaller one that would fit better and really hold the essentials (money, coin, DL, Bank Card, etc.). I was also getting requests from co-workers who like to go out (clubs, bars, concerts, etc.) and not worry about carrying a purse.

So here are a few wallets/coin purses that I made for friends.

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / While waiting for the handyman... on: January 22, 2008 09:11:53 PM
I have a ton of scrapbooking paper and I was looking to create something. I have seen a lot of others create their "ideal" wallet and I wanted to try a design that I would see myself using.

Let me start off by giving you a little background of what I do. I work for a grocery store and in one of the departments I work in we make all the signs for the store. To protect them from moisture we laminate them. Once the two sheets of laminate get glued together it's no longer able to be recycled. I started taking home some of the larger pieces and used them for patterns for my bags etc. Well now I decided to use them as a protective cover to my idea over clear vinyl (which is a pain to sew on the machine.)

So with the help of a few cards from my wallet and my idea I came up with this prototype. It's all paper and recycled laminate from work. There are some changes that I'm going to make already but I think with a few days using it I'll find other things that I could change to make it last.

Here are a few pictures:

this is one of the things that I forgot to do. Close in the panel that has the cards so I had an extra pocket for receipts and cards.
10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / A Denim Skirt and an old t-shirt.... on: January 19, 2008 09:20:45 PM
I had gone through my clothes and noticed that I wasn't going to wear some skirts that I have had for a while so I decided to make a bag out of one of them. For the lining I used a shirt that was ruined with bleach. Here is the end result:
