21  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Easy fix for too short curtains on: September 23, 2005 10:33:53 AM
On an impulse buy at Ikea, I picked up these yellow curtains for my living room but I really should have measured first because they were way to short for my windows!  My husband wanted me to return them but I had some scraps of fabric lying around so I just added some to the bottom.  I ran into a few problems.  First, I couldn't find any fabric wide enough so I sewed a bunch of strips together & well, this is how it came out.  Not too shabby, huh?  I still need to get better acquainted with my sewing machine so anything I make with it impresses me.   Tongue  & pardon the wrinkles.  i still need to iron them out!

I went to New Orleans last year on my honeymoon.  It's really sad to think about what happened to the city and everyone that lived there.  I'm so glad I was able to visit and save all these great memories of such a wonderful city.  Here are just a few pages from my Honeymoon scrapbook(s).  I had so many pictures I had to make 3!!
Sorry for the pic quality!

24  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / My Crabitat on: September 13, 2005 12:02:25 PM
This was the first project my husband and I worked on together.   Smiley  We have 3 hermit crabs, Itchy, Scratchy, and Handsome Pete.  And we wanted to make their home as comfy as we could so we hooked up an aquarium and this is what we came up with....

This was our first set up...

then because they love climbing so much, we built a second level using choya logs and a turtle dock.  The back is also made of wire that was an old hermie cage.  The side is coconut fiber that they can climb up.  The background was left over from our leopard geckos cage.  We cut a coconut in half to make a little hut and used a sea shell as a food dish and recycled an old fish tank plant (they love to climb thru it).  We mixed the ground (part rock/part sand) to give them different textures.  All in all, they are really active and seem to love their new environment.   Smiley

25  COOKING / Dessert / Cupcakes for a bachelorette party! on: September 13, 2005 08:40:58 AM
So I just wanted to share my cupcakes that I made for my friend's bachelorette party.  It was my first cupcake attempt & I think they came out pretty good.  I just used the mix & store bought icing.  Vanilla is her favorite so it's all vanilla.  I got pretty creative with the icing though.  Wink  My husband made the "naughty" one of course.  He's such a boy!   Tongue

Hi.  I'm new to this forum and I thought I'd share a page I just finished up.  It's from a scrapbook I've been making of my freshman year in college.  I've been scrapping for about a year now & I luv trying new things and getting more creative with my pages.  I work on all sorts of crafts but I must admit I spend a LOT of time taking pictures and scrapbooking.  I'd luv any feedback or ideas I can get!

27  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Decoupaged Switch Plate covers ~ Strawberry shortcake, Mario, & flowers on: August 30, 2005 06:50:14 AM
My best friend and I made these decoupaged switch plate covers.  It was our first attempt & I think they came out pretty nice.  We used a glue mixture to seal them.  Next time I think we'll use polyeurathane(sp?) to give them a nicer finish.  My husband designed the Mario one.   Smiley
