1  Re: Help please?! It won't pick up the bottom thread! in Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions by matuta on: June 18, 2009 07:11:20 PM

Then I pull the thread like this.

When you get to this part, I can't tell from the pictures that follow but do you (while holding it like that) then pull the thread up any more through the part that looks separated until you get to a part where you can just pull it with ease? That might be your problem.
If you get to this part then the next thing after putting it into the machine is to wind it by hand until the thread picks up.

3  Canada Day dress for my daughter ... in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by matuta on: July 02, 2008 07:37:44 PM
There were no dresses anywhere so at the last minute I bought some cool maple leaf fabric and whipped up this dress for my daughter ... she got lots of compliments on our outing celebrating Canada Day!
comments welcomed! Grin

here she had already visited the face painting and gotten a butterfly on her face. She also just lost her 2 top teeth ... so she has a cute toothless smile right now!

5  ***NEW PICS added! (page 2) *** Baby dresses made from scratch (img heavy!!!) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by matuta on: May 12, 2008 12:25:18 AM
Okay ... so after lots of time here ooohing and aaahing over the beautiful outfits made by other talented craftsters I finally am taking the plunge and posting some of the little outfits that I made for a friend's baby that will be born very soon! While I designed the sleeveless dresses on my own I have to give credit to a very old pattern for a doll's bonnet that I modified slightly to be rounder and also credit to vegbee's excellent peasant shirt tute that helped me greatly in making the peasant dress.
Hope you like ... comments are welcome!

6  Re: Post your photography in here :D in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by matuta on: March 07, 2008 12:09:24 PM
I think your little girl is sooooooooo cute! But the photo was more greys than showing contrast and so I played with it in photoshop just to make the contrast "pop". Here is the modified version ....

How about something in sepia like this? It can also be turned into black and white instead.
