2321  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Record album cover journals ahoy! (img heavy) on: December 15, 2005 03:26:13 PM
OMG! i used the record cover for "you can't be true, dear" as my journal cover for letters to my boyfriend! not as dumb as it sounds. he works on a boat for 28 days and often times doesn't have cell phone reception. i thought it was appropriate because we both kinda look like the people on the cover (i cut a pair of glasses out of a magazine that were similar to mine and mod podged them on!) great minds think alike!

i received my new favorite christmas cd from easilyinfluenced on monday! my fave song? belle & sebastian's "santa claus, go straight to the ghetto". also a beautiful card that she claims is the first card she's ever made.

i found the magnetic snaps! got 'em at michaels, just like on the edge said! i also found them at the indie craft store, but they were a dollar more. i also got them to work with the tips and techniques found in this very thread!

2325  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Christmas music CD Swap! on: December 08, 2005 11:58:49 AM

Yeah, it is. I am relatively new to swaps and I get it too. I just made a stuffy for sea of stars and her stuff is SO great, I was really nervous I'd be unworthy. But she liked it! Yay! Anyway, most people on here are super nice, and I figure if I send something I would like to receive, that's probably the best indicator. Right? So, don't worry! Be Merry!  Wink

thanks, batgirl! that paranoid feeling is not gone, but at least i know it's normal!

2327  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: THE BIG WINTER HOLIDAY GIFT THREAD!!!! on: December 06, 2005 04:28:40 PM

okay, here goes. this is my first attempt at posting pics, so i hope this works. if not, i'm about to leave work and i'll have to try again tomorrow.
like i said, these purses were the ones done by my not-so-crafty auntie. in fact, while we were making them she kept saying " i LOVE crafting" but not like she meant it. more like one might say "i LOVE pap smears" (i work in a doc's office, i have procedures on the brain).
anyway, it took about an hour (i made five and she made five) and cost about $15 in supplies.
i hope this is helpful for anyone who needs a cheap and easy gift for multiple people.

ps. please excuse the lighting.

i have just finished a super easy and super cheap project. my auntie/boss and i wanted to make a little something for all the ladies that we work with. please note that auntie has zero crafting experience. she found these cute little black satin coin purses in the dollar bins at target. of course she liked the "snap together" ones which are hard cases better than the zipper ones which are soft. does that make sense? then we got some of that glue and bead stuff that's all mixed together and a sheet of letter stencils. tape the stencils over the coin purse and slap on some bead glue with a pallet knife. gently pull the stencil off and fill in any spaces using a toothpick. we made 10 coin purses for less than $15! they are drying right now (it takes 48 hours, so not really a good last minute craft) and i think they will turn out really cool. i will try and post pics after they are dry!

Hi All,
I sent my mix out today.  I am kinda of nervous that my partner won't like it.  So much indie Christmas music is depressing.
Anyway, I hope everyone had as much fun making their cd as I did!

Don't worry about it. I noticed that too in making yours. So I made a less-than-indie, but still way cool Christmas music CD. I'm sure I will love it.
