1  Re: CLOSED - 2019 Make-A-Friend Revival: Miniature Version SO #2- 5/31 in Craft Swaps by dharma_rebel on: May 22, 2019 10:06:40 AM
There are so many things that Ive made that Im proud of - usually thanks to swaps because they push me to actually finish things, and to do my very best. However, I took some classes in metalsmithing last year and Im SUPER proud of the things I can make with metal and a saw.

I made both of these rings - although I could use a refresher course in stone setting.

Im pretty handy with a jewelers saw, though.

As far as getting to know my partner, I feel like I have been a bit neglectful. Weve messaged back and forth a few times, but we are both busy moms. It feels like life gets in the way a lot. But, Im having so much fun crafting for Kartiana, and we are now friends on Facebook. Plus, she lives in a city not far from me, that I visit a few times a month, and we have a lot in common. So, I feel like our friendship wont end with this swap, and that we have the potential to meet in person someday!  Smiley

2  Re: 2019 Make-A-Friend Revival: Miniature Version Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by dharma_rebel on: April 22, 2019 09:19:40 AM
Gorgeous embroidery from kittykill, as usual. There is something amazing to me about hexagons. I love the honeycomb behind the pattern.

The painted egg by endymion is incredible!! Is there a name for the technique? It looks like it was fun to make, although I doubt mine would turn out as bright and detailed.

I love Mandykayes art. I follow her on Instagram so I get to see it often. The cactus are super fun. I would totally frame that.

The ATC from dontneedaclassroom is cool, too. This is another craft I could never hope to do well. Of course, I love the use of mixed metallics. Is it edged with copper tape? So awesome.

I received on Friday from kartiana and it was a welcome package after a long week. Im just now posting pics. Im coming up on the end of my semester and I had to write a 10 page paper and edit 2 other 10 papers over the weekend. Now I just have 2 shorter papers and an hour long presentation to get through in the next 10 days.

I will get through this with help from the beautiful midori notebook kartiana made. I absolutely love the turquoise and mustard color combo. Im a bit of a bullet journal freak (I couldnt keep organized otherwise) and we refer to these as travelers notebooks. The pocket size is great to keep with me so I can jot down ideas when I dont have my bujo. I also received a custom deck of playing cards featyuring the Metolius River in Central Oregon. Kartiana grew up in Camp Sherman, which is on the river. I loved reading her letter and getting to know her. We have so much in common!

Im hoping to wrap up her package today and get it sent out tomorrow. My kid stayed home from school today, so that should make it easier to get finished!

3  Re: Spell My Name Swap -- Initials Edition 3 July 2018 in The Swap Gallery by dharma_rebel on: July 31, 2018 02:42:20 PM
I received from Quaggy yesterday. She is the most thoughtful partner and really crafted to my tastes perfectly. My initials are REF

R is for Reclaimed driftwood hanger (I think thats what the R was for. My mom was helping clean up as I tore into the package, so all the tags went to the recycle bin)

E is for Enchanted hanger/mobile. OMG this is so incredible and so me. Im going to actually hang it in my kitchen window for the world to see. And you get multiple photos, its so cool. I just love all the crystals and agate slices.

F is for flag. Quaggy made me a prayer flag based on my love of cactus!

And extras! Mini tarot cards, cactus charms and patch, a cactus planner (that my kid claimed, but I wont complain if it gets her organized), Red Hots, Extra gum and Fruit snacks!

She also claimed that she managed to do this from stash. I totally want to go visit her and play with her supplies. Thank you so much, Quaggy! I love everything and I cannot wait to get everything hung up!!!

I finished my own flag up today. This gallery is so inspiring. I will admit to being particularly inspired by the flag Smmarrt made for abbeeroad.  I chose patience for my theme.

I got my flag from crafty-becky yesterday! She chose my theme free. I love the blue on yellow - one of my favorite color combos - and the teeny tiny bird and tiny perfect stitching. And now I cant get Lynyrd Skynyrd out of my head.  Cheesy

And heres a closer shot of the bird so you can see what I mean about tiny, perfect stitches.

The best thing about swapping with someone from Portland is HOW FAST delivery is. emilywilde I totally want to redo the flag I sent you because you sent me THE AWESOME!!!

Its a gorgeous woven piece and says magic is waiting. It totally reminds me of all the wonderful, magical things about living in the PNW. Its freaking perfect. Thank you!

OMG Ive been pinned!  Kiss You know, I totally could have stitched rainbows forever. It was my favorite thing to do over the last month in the grey, rainy PNW. I have another rainbow idea in the works. This swap really got my crafty mojo going
I have to share a group shot, because I was unable to send one thing that I thought was so darn pretty.
Growing up, we would go to the ocean and visit a candy store. Everyone else got salt water taffy. Im not really a fan, but they also had jelly bellies all separated out by color and flavor and I would always pick out my favorites and have a rainbow bag of jelly bellies. I wanted to do something simular for Kansas, so I bought separate bags and layered them in a glass jar. It was so pretty. When I went to the post office, I dropped the jar and the lid broke and the whole floor was covered in rainbow jelly bellies! It was mighty embarrassing but the floor looked so pretty! Im really bummed I didnt get get to send it though.

I got my package from Studio ANF yesterday and it made me feel so cozy and spoiled! She is super generous and a very talented hooker, so prepare to be amazed.

First up I opened a mug rug in my colors. Im so impressed that she was able to crochet a snowflake on it.

The worn accessory is a gorgeous hooded scarf. Its granny square style, which I love. I wore it today and it wraps around my shoulders and is long enough (or Im short enough) that when Im sitting down it covers my thighs. Its like being wrapped in a stylish blanket. Please foegive the unflattering pics. My kid was the photographer.

She also sent along a delicious smelling black tea with berry infusion. Im gonna brew this soon. Its almost time to switch from coffee to tea. But thats not all! She whipped up some darling crochet coasters and added some fancy chocolate, dragonfly stickers, snowflake rub-ons and a macaroon blank book that my kid tried to steal but I took back.

I loved absolutely everything. Thank you so much for being my partner!

10  Re: Positive Affirmations Swap: Gallery in The Swap Gallery by dharma_rebel on: February 19, 2018 03:45:45 PM
I, too, was a lucky recepient of a painting from WiccadWitch. It has all my favorite colors, a little sparkle that you cant see very well in the photo, and a much needed reminder to myself.

She also sent along a gorgeous goddess card. I really want to keep it, but Im feeling called to give it to a friend of mine.

And that wraps up this bright spot of a swap for me! I love seeing all the interpretations on this theme. Im especially jealous of LimeRiots lettering skills. Thats something I really want to learn.
