2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / hoodie into zipup? on: March 05, 2008 02:32:13 PM
Hey, so I have a standard hoodie, but the neck is a little small for me,
so I was wondering whether anyone has ever tried cutting open and inserting a zipper along the front of a hoodie.  I see tons of tutes on making zipups from scratch, but i didn't see any on just transforming one into a zipup.
I realize with seam allowances the design on the front would get chopped and mushed together, but would it work, especially at the top, where the top of the sweater-area attaches to the hood?

that is amazing.  Do they bleed at all?
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / sewing on shoulders/sleeves? on: August 09, 2006 07:44:57 PM
hey yall Smiley  I'm sorry if this has already been answered (I lack searching skills, not effort!) and I was wondering how everyone sews the shoulders for tops.  I'm still a newbie, and would like to make teeshirts and long sleeve shirts, but I just don't get how you add sleeves to shirts(especially like the armpit part, it keeps scrunching when I try) , any info would be appreciated!  (altho I somewhat understand how to do a raglan sleeve).  This include recons, how do you keep the sleeves when ur resizing a teeshirt?
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Eyelet question on: August 09, 2006 07:18:21 PM
u can get packs of eyelets(a front piece and a back piece u can hammer together) from craftstores (they may be in the scrapbooking section, but it should be ok as long as the fabric isn't too thick or too thin, and the hole isn't too big).

u could add eyelet tape (like the row of holes surrounded by metal rings u see on corsets or shoes), or add a black lace hem

tattoo websites are nice too for most simple things (ie. plants, chains, hearts, skulls etc.)
9  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: There's nothing like a good sandwich on: July 28, 2006 08:03:39 PM
potato salad(small chunks of potatoes slightly mashed, carrots, cucumber, with salt'n pepper, mayo and vinegar), lettuce or nuts, tomato on any bread.  yum.

well here's a few ideas for recent broadway musicals:
mamma mia!, hairspray, wicked, spamalot, cabaret, phantom of the opera, cats, les miserables, and this was released as a movie (not so) recently, but maybe RENT?
or if she likes older ones, like the sound of music, just research a few.  if u can remember any she particularly liked, u'd prob. better stick to that one Wink  http://www.musicalsonline.com/
best of luck,
