1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re:magazine box on: March 14, 2004 07:35:36 AM
i don't really use it for anything yet.  hah.  i was thinking it could be a picture box (for photos), but since i have a digital camera now i don't really need a picture box, i have more than enough room in existing photo albums.
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / magazine box on: March 09, 2004 12:53:38 AM
this was a box that came in the mail and i decided to make it purty.  everything on this box is from delia's catalogs.  they are just cut outs of parts of the clothes in there.  i glued them all on then put two coats of varnish on it.

i just made this tonight.  i just printed the images onto a yellow envelope that i cut to the size of a paper, then cut it out with an xacto knife.

the only thing i added was the bottom stand part, because the original one broke.

and i made my own star stencils.  i just cut it out of construction paper and then taped the edges to make it stiffer.  i opted to make my own because i didn't want symmetrical stars.
8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re:boring keyboard no more! on: February 15, 2004 03:23:57 PM
yeah you can pretty much see all the letters through the pink nail polish, but you have to look hard to see it through the silver.

but i never look at the keyboard when i'm typing anyway.  and yeah, luckily i have my own computer.  my parents would be less than pleased if they came in one day to see theirs like this.  haha.

and i was thinking the same thing about writing on your own letters with a sharpie.  i think i'll make the pink coat thicker so you can't see through it, then maybe write on my own letters.
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re:Record bowls, easiest gift ever! on: February 15, 2004 01:04:37 PM
Has anyone done it with the smaller records? What do they turn out like?

They end up looking kind of like ashtrays, since the base, where the label is, stays flat and ends up relatively wide.  Of course there is also a huge hole in the center too. I haven't figured out what to do with these yet...

actually i made two with the smaller records and you can get them to come out very bowl like.  if you wear a glove or something to protect your hand, and push down on the record while it's sitting on the bowl and still very warm and flexible that makes it less wide.  i liked my small record bowls better than the full size ones.
