81  Chibi Pyramid Head, now with bloodstains! in Halloween Costumes by astrangeone on: November 01, 2009 09:20:27 PM
Helm:  Foam board + cardboard at the back.  Bits and bobs are water bottles and other things.

Apron/Shirt:  Shirt is repurposed tee shirt with tea stains and acyrlic paint as the bloodstains.  (Large red handprint on the back of the shirt.)  Apron is broadcloth distressed with dirt and tea.  Same blood stains.

Gauze:  medical gauze soaked with fake blood (corn syrup, chocolate syrup, food coloring) and dried again.

Pants:  plain black pants.

This was fun to wear, plus I had a lot of fun making it!  Cheesy  The helm took all summer to design (maybe about 1 month), and the apron and shirt took me about 1 day to repurpose.  The next challenge is making the great knife (oversized meat cleaver) that the character carries.

Too bad a lot of college kids didn't play the game...

82  Pyramid Head/Red Pyramid Head Thing - Completed, no blood! in Halloween Costumes by astrangeone on: October 13, 2009 09:14:00 AM

Ulterior Motive:  Didn't want to do anything "sexy" for the frat boys on campus.  So, went with scary and different.

Okay - I went with the look from the videogame - a shorter helmet (the one in the movie looks like it drapes down to the wearer's chest).

No gloves, and no great knife (because it would be clubbing).  No blood yet because of the fact that my blood is the edible kind (corn syrup + chocolate syrup + food coloring).  The apron needs to be distressed and made to look old.

I will also be binding the twins (stupid giant boobies! tape and a sports bra), wearing shoulder pads in my underwear and a packing dildo.  It's full on drag without the facial hair and stuff.

Sorry about the quality of the photo.  I suck at taking pictures!

Props:  dismembered hand + bloody machete

Okay, this was a pain in the tush to do.  Everything needed to be modeled just right, but luckily the cardboard at the back of the helm was heavier than the foam board.  It makes it easy to wear and looks great.

84  Look what the safer sex fairy brought me! (Photobucket Pics) in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by astrangeone on: September 01, 2009 06:29:44 PM
I woke up this morning, and found this sitting outside my steps!

Huge Box of Condoms:  (This is what they call Magnum XL!  Hehehe)

Huge Condom:

Media:  Paper, paint, and a lot of hot glue.  The base is cardboard.  Condom is scrunched up newspaper and two mismatching sheets of bristol board.

It is a costume - it has two harness loops, and the harness goes over your neck.  There is a space for the condom to stick out of the box.  Cheesy  The logo is going to go in the corner, and I'm waiting for my girlfriend to paint it.  *sigh*

85  "Inspiration" Altered Box in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by astrangeone on: July 27, 2009 07:25:09 PM
My girlfriend's an artist, but she doesn't craft.  So, I figured that she might like a nice gift the next time she comes down - and what does an artist lack sometimes?  Inspiration!

Taking the theme, I got the idea that words, scents, lust, and love can be inspiring.

The Front:

Cutting up an old/water damaged paperback novel.  (Ian Rankin's Tooth and Nail.)  Everything in the box is scavenged and recycled - even the photo of me is from an old student id card!  The nail polish is something I never use - it's a bottle from a trip to China, and I'm afraid to use it on my nails - it is kind of pretty, although - clear nail polish with glitter bits and heart shapes it in.

The Inside:

Contents include stickers, a pewter ring, two random number generators and a matchbook notebook from the novel cover.  Not pictured: a mint mini-pillow, and a small pencil.

86  Pyramid Head Plushie in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by astrangeone on: July 15, 2009 12:25:31 PM
So, I have a boring plushie bought from a dollar store.  How can I jazz it up?  (By making it cosplay pyramid head!)

There were more details (iron on beads), but they refused to stay on.

87  Duracell Harness Costume in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by astrangeone on: January 03, 2009 08:11:46 PM
Made for a round of Halloween parties.  Just posted now (thanks for remembering that I actually have a craftster.org account - sheesh.)

What do you think?  Got a suggestion for a varnish/clear coat that won't destroy the paint job?  I used watered down white glue, and it made some of the gold paint run into the black onto the body.  (Acrylics - cheap acrylics!)
