JoAnns has a nice list of craft classes.  I know they do knitting, crochet & sewing.  Michaels does knitting & crochet as well.
2  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: From My Stash Swap- signups until Oct 5, send out Nov 12 (maximum 25) on: September 29, 2007 06:35:12 PM
I want to sign up but before I do can I get a little more clarification on small, medium & large items?  For me, a large would probably be a purse, a medium would be some form of jewelry & small would be a bookmark.  Those are not hard & fast examples but scale-wise, that's what I'm think.

3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / mint tins with mirror (Not Altoids cases!) on: September 27, 2007 01:00:55 PM

Link to a picture of the tins I'm talking about above.  They do open more than it shows but not much & the lid does not slide all the way off.  I've given a few to my DD but I hate to chuck them.  TIA!!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Recon show on TLC on: June 24, 2007 07:46:53 PM
I'm watching it (Thank goodness for TiVo!!).  AFA the person doing the work themselves, not everyone can sew & fit a garment from measurements (even if its their own body).  Also, while I can sew fairly well, I'd love to have someone come in & tell me what to do with the stuff I have that I'd be willing to recreate.  Just off the top of my head, I've got some stretchy black pinstripe pants, some strappy tanks that are a bit too big but have great detail & a few v-neck tops (all same style & fabric) that I hate the sleeves on.
Its like a lot of things.  Many times another person can come up with better ideas than you can on your own.
I do wish it was an hour so we could see more of the process & the work that goes into the garments.  For example, there was a sequin thing that they cut up.  I can only imagine how they had to fray-check the fabric & all that.
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Make your own Anna Sui Necklace on: October 12, 2005 06:15:29 AM
I have some tassels just hanging around my house, taking up space.  I'll have to try & use 1 or two this way.  Thanks for the idea!
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / favorite 1-skein projects on: October 11, 2005 05:30:05 PM
Just curious.  If you have patterns to link to that'd be great.  Newbie projects are even more welcome!  TIA!
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: I Did It!!! Finally Cleaned Up and Organized... on: October 03, 2005 10:32:17 AM
My goal is to be organized by the end of this month.  I've got some stuff in the living room & some in the bedroom which are opposite ends of the house.  I can't even get to the desk where I want to craft.  Hopfully by Nov. 1 it will look much better.
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: bracelet bag - brown wool, hot pink flower, + lace! on: October 03, 2005 10:17:06 AM
Love it.   I'll have to try a tiny version for my DD.
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: The Big Winter Holiday Gift Thread! on: October 01, 2005 09:22:38 PM
Fleece scarves are really easy & people seem so impressed that you made them.  You can buy solid colors & embroider them or you can buy printed fabric.  I cut a fringe on each end & then tie the fringe together by twos.  (Hope that made sense)

Also, book thongs are easy & fun to make.  I make mine with ribbons, pony beads & anything else I've got lying around that might work.  Put a bookstore gift certificate or a nice book with it & that's a great present.
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Only 85 Crocheting days 'til Christmas! (yule/winter holidays) on: October 01, 2005 12:34:48 PM
scarf for my DH  (SSSSHHHHHH!! It's a secret!)

Other than that, non-crocheted stuff.  Although I am working on a thin scarf for each of the moms for mothers day.  Breaks up the monotony of working with DH's scarf.
