These are costumes I made for my kids last year. I started with a base costume and worked on it from there, as you can see the super hero was pretty simple and its stuffed to make big mucsles. the princess costume was a dance outfit that I took apart and added too. I made her hat from scratch. Itwas poster board cover with tissure paper that just happened to match the fabric on her costume perfectly. the skirt is made frome tulle. this year is going to be even better!! she is going to be a christmas tree and he is going to be santa clause.  Grin

63  Cigarbox or not?? in Completed Projects by chattyKathi on: September 11, 2005 11:11:23 AM
this is a take on something I saw on here some where. It was origionally done with a shoe box , but I thought that a cigar box would work better. You can see the glue is still wet.  This is the first one I have done, but it for keeping your "monthly" personal items near the toilet  Wink

thanks for looking , any comments greatly appreciated.

64  Re: HELP! Chubby Woman's Halloween Costume ideas! HELP! in Halloween Costumes by chattyKathi on: September 05, 2005 06:26:41 AM
I totally understand the not wanting to dress up for halloween, I have been overwieght a good share of my life and also spent alot of my working life planning my vacations  around Halloween so I wouldn't have too! BUt I love the ideas here! and believe it or not I love Halloween, just not dressing up myself!  This is one I am doing for my daughter this year, a Christmas tree this is the starting of her costume

I have the ornaments on it now  and still have some work to do, but you can see the idea of it. oh and another good one is my son is gong to be Santa Clause, you could do that or Mrs Clause?  Good luck and have fun!

65  Denim Hat (img heavy) in CHALLENGE 5 ENTRIES by chattyKathi on: August 22, 2005 10:28:57 AM
This is my first challenge entry I am so excited to be particpating. I made this hat from a pair of old jeans, I cut them up into strips and crocheted it. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a66/craftylady2/21aug2005037.jpg
It's pretty fragile because I cut some of the strips to thin,, but here is the finished product, if you can't tell there is a pom pom on top too!

I had so much fun doing this, thanks for looking!!

66  Re: Ornaments 3 year olds can make??? in Winter Holidays by chattyKathi on: August 20, 2005 07:27:00 PM
well I do a ornament every year with my kids since they could pick up a glue bottle! last year we made pine cone ornaments. I found lots pine cones in the woods near my house.  one thing you have to do if you do that is bake them at 200 degrees for about 15  mins to kill any bugs that might be with in. if you find ones that are closed they will open as they dry . well the easiet thing to do is have them roll them in white glue then roll them in glitter. its eary and they love it, or you can put the glitter in old seasoning jars (plastic ones, removable tops) and they can shake it on. wala! here is a pick of one I did fooling around but A little too much for 3 year olds. and I also painted white poster paint onto a plain pine cone for the snowy effect. and you can use pipe cleaners or ribbon for the "hooks" good luck!
