3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / New additions to me closet! =D (morbidly image obese) on: August 30, 2010 10:33:43 AM
I haven't posted in a while on account of summer courses and work, but i've been sewing!
so here are 3 new dresses Smiley
1) Shiny black formal dress, which i can wear under a jacket for business-y occasions
The front

The back

The front pleat detail

the slit

2) same pattern as the first, but wider shoulders and no zipper or slit, super stretchy fabric:P
The front

The back

the front pleat detail, but the pleats don't really work with the stretch in the fabric :\

3) This is a dress based off of an orange dress i've posted here before, but this one has a very full skirt. i haven't decided what to do about a belt yet, but here are my options
The Front, with a fabric belt (yes my face looks funny, but the dress looks good so i don't mind Tongue)

The Back

the front, with black waist belt)

That's it for today, comments and criticisms very welcome Smiley

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / pocket full of sunshine on: May 10, 2010 01:25:23 PM
Hi everyone! I am very exited to share my new dress with you Tongue
it all started when our local fabricland had its going out of business sale, my mom and i stocked up on fabric and this beauty was one of them Smiley its a very bright orange with lighter orange circles on it that seem like they were bleached into the fabric. the bodice was based on a princess seamed dress pattern that i cut off at the waist with a gathered skirt and a shirt-dress buttoned front. i was so glad i found buttons that matched the exact shade!
also, i had some fun with my lily and the rare warm sunny day Smiley (it snowed a night ago!!!)
here it is:)

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Big Bouquet of Roses on: February 18, 2010 04:13:37 PM
Hey everyone Smiley
This dress is inspired by a dress made by ari-  which Ive been drooling over for quite some time, and I finally got the opportunity to make it !(seen here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=306446.0)

Instead of cream I used red organza and made my roses a bit smaller and more rose-y Tongue

It was originally supposed to be knee length and handkerchief hem-d but the hem didnt turn out well because I didnt have enough layers, so I ended up chopping off too much and it got waaaaay shorter than I expected X_X

I ended up making it the day of the formal that it was for, so it took me about 5 hours in total, a very crazy 5 hours I might add Tongue

The front, with a ribbon tie instead of the belt I made

a bit closer, with the belt

the pouff factor Tongue

close-up of the roses 

what do you think?
