1  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round Six Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by onesmallinstrument on: February 14, 2006 05:56:13 AM
I received the absolute best notecards in the mail from Pretendpeterpan!  I requested notecards based on the band The Weakerthans, and what I received are so perfect.

This one says: "The night's a spill, a permanent stain; the city soaks in silence, salt, and dirty snow" from the song "Wellington's Wednesdays."

"I trace your outline in spilled sugar, killing time and killing hope" from "None of the Above"

"We must never stop watching the sky with our hands in our pockets" from "Sounds Familiar"

And finally "I have a story that I'd like to tell you, it's littered with settings and second takes" from "Diagnosis"

All of the cards are more like mini works of art and I love them so much.  Thanks again, Pretendpeterpan!

I received my wrist warmers from redpopsicles in the mail today.  They are a most excellent green... My lights are very yellow so the color is all wrong in the kind of poor quality photo I was able to take.  But I wanted to show off anyway.  Here's the left one - the right one looks the same.  Unfortunately, I can't take a no-handed photo  Wink

They will come in mighty handy.  Thanks again, redpopsicles!

3  Re: Kickin it old school Craftster style: Mix tape swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by onesmallinstrument on: February 02, 2006 06:56:53 PM
Aha - I've temporarily overcome my camera difficulties and have a photo of the packaging from my two mix tapes to show off...

The one on the left is from onecraftybitch and the one on the right is from semicharm86.  Thanks again to you both!

Also, has anyone received from me?  I'm starting to worry that someone  in the post office is listening to some fun new mixes in his/her car...

Here's the final score.  Me: 1, Camera:7.  Even though I've been handily trounced by an inanimate object, I've finally managed to get photos (albeit a bit blurry ones) of the wonderful things I received from this swap.

First, here is the hand-painted sheep flower pot that Lv2ScrpBk sent me.  It came with a sheep stamp and a few other goodies, including some fun notecards (and some candy Wink).  Thanks again!  I use the sheep pot in my office to hold candy...

And then here is what I received from seaofstars.  I would have loved to do an in-action shot, but since I live alone and my camera hates me, I finally settled on having my most beloved stuffed animal from when I was little, Blue Kitty, model it for me.  It's a beautiful green scarf and I love it... I'm particularly impressed that seaofstars was new at this craft; she claimed there were flaws, but I have my doubts - it looks good to me!

Then, she also included a fun zipper pouch, which is the perfect size for keeping my essentials from getting lost in the depths of my bookbags.  The photo is really shady, but the fabric is a lot of fun - exactly what I would have selected.

Thanks again to the two of you!!  Sorry it took me so long to get these photos up.

Okay, after a long, drawn out struggle with my camera, I finally have managed to catch up with photos for my last swaps...

Here is the excellent set of coasters that starpiste sent me.  They're absolutely brilliant and I love them!!!  I know I'm late, but I wanted to show them off anyway.  Thanks again starpiste! Grin

And here is my robot lamp modeling it's scarf and hat and holding one of the pins I received from blueblythe (my lamp is such a ham).  Thanks!

I got my artwork from onesmallinstument two days ago.  It is totally awesome!  It matches perfectly with the decor in my bathroom, and it graces the wall above the light switch.  My boyfriend will be home with the digicam later today, and I will post pictures (unless you took pics, onesmallinstument, then go ahead and show them off...)

I just saw this post...  I scanned the piece before I sent it because I have ridiculous difficulties using a digital camera.  I'm glad that you like it and that you found a place for it where it wouldn't look out of place.  Smiley  I'd like to see a picture of it in action, though, if you take one.

I received the best felted necklace from shsupernova this week!

And the obligatory action shot, though it's blurry.

My clothes are really monochromatic so I really love how bright the colors are.  I wore it to school today and everyone wanted to touch it and see it closer - it was a big hit.

Thanks again, shsupernova, I LOVE it!

I received my third bookmark today, so here I am posting about their magnificence.

I'm using an external picture host, so I'm hoping the image works.

Starting at the left is the bookmark I got from Melladh, who took all of my likes to heart and made this excellent bookmark with a picture of a circuit board underneath some technological speak.  My favorite part is the copper tape stuff she used to line the edges.

The middle bookmark is from girlwonder.  The kind of lame photo quality doesn't let you see how detailed it is, but it's outlined with red glitter.  My favorite part is that on the top line of the definitions behind the head diagram is the word "crafty."  Very fitting.

Finally, the other three are from stitching sister - I love the muscle man and how I can place the bookmark next to things and it looks like he is silently judging them.  See, here he is in action judging my mouse.  He obviously feels very superior to my mouse.  (Sorry for the shoddy photo quality)

Thank you all!  I love them very much! Grin

9  CD magnet puzzle in Completed Projects by onesmallinstrument on: November 21, 2005 07:46:37 PM
In the spirit of inexpensive fridge decoration, I used an AOL CD tonight to make this:

And here it is with the pieces separated a little:

All I did was take the CD, cut it into pieces with sturdy scissors, trace the shapes of the pieces onto images I got from a magazine, cut them out a little inside the the traced lines, glue and seal the pieces using mod podge, trace around the edges with a sharpie, and stick magnetic bits to the backs.

I also did another one using one image for the entire CD.  The only difference is I had to glue and seal the picture before I cut the CD into pieces.  It turned out really well but my camera batteries died as I was only partway through transfering the pictures to my computer.

And here is the cover art for the CDs I sent to Nutella.

Stock photography is the best thing ever.  After music.  Smiley
