1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help for clueless newbie!!! on: September 01, 2006 10:28:19 AM
I really want to make this hat for my husband,
and I really like how there is no seam that you have to stitch up (I'm a crocheter, and I'm used to one continuous thing), but I'm clueless on what kinda of needles to use for this.  I've heard about the circular needles, and I bought a pair, but it was like 29", and i think that was too long of a size.  So, I took em back, and was just totally baffled by all the different stuff at the store...I've read about Double Pointed Needles as well, and don't know about that either.  Please help me with this...I want to start soon!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / turquoise dress on: July 15, 2006 03:35:10 PM
this is based loosely off of this link...

anyway, it's a little turquoise/brown polka dot dress I made for my niece's birthday party today...

I'm sure it could be adapted to fit adult sizes...just make a bigger rectangle to start with....

Let me know what you think...

4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / ELISHA CUTHBERT STENCIL..... on: May 29, 2006 04:00:48 PM
ARGH!  This was so time consuming...But I managed to finish it today, before it never got finished!!!  Anyway, it was 7 different colors of paint, and I freehanded her eyes, and mouth, and tweaked things a little.  Let me know what you guys think...
The color is a little funky on this pic...stupid cam phone...
and this is more of the true color, and flattened out so, you can see how it is...
never again am i going to do such a complicated stencil!!!
5  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Bolero...I swear-o!!!! on: May 27, 2006 01:23:15 PM
Wow...this was the most time consuming crochet project I've ever done...Probably because I kept working on it at 1:00 in the morning, and had to keep pulling my rows out in the morning when I woke up, because I did them totally wrong...anyway, I made a large, and I probably should've done a medium, and made it longer, but I shortened, and tightened the sleeves, to make it fit a little more snug there, but just let me know what you think...there...I'm done rambling...

p.s....my mom is modeling, only on the terms that I couldn't take a picture of her face.  hahaha...

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / my first, and probably my ONLY duffle bag i'll ever make!!! on: February 06, 2006 12:16:39 PM
this took me so long to do...I got a sewing machine for christmas, and decided I wanted to try a pattern of a bag...so, i found one at walmart, and got the fabric, and everything there...i made a few adjustments....
time to do the bag-
cutting out the pattern: 4 hours
pinning, and cutting out the pattern on fabric: 5 hours
trying to figure out what the damn pattern was saying: 2 hours, and a call to my mom, which i decided to just improvise on the pockets
sewing the first half of the bag: 4 hours
sewing the second half of the bag 4 hours

total time: 19 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  that's crazy...but i think it turned out pretty good...and i'm excited to use it for the gym, and goin on trips...

it turned out way bigger than i expected, but i like it...tell me what you think...
