1  turquoise dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by aimmorg on: July 15, 2006 03:35:10 PM
this is based loosely off of this link...

anyway, it's a little turquoise/brown polka dot dress I made for my niece's birthday party today...

I'm sure it could be adapted to fit adult sizes...just make a bigger rectangle to start with....

Let me know what you think...

I guess glitter was the theme on this one, huh macaulkv???  anyway...I'm gonna post my pics here that I sent to ClassyLassy...I haven't taken pics yet of what she sent, but I should be soon...hopefully Saturday...

me modeling it!  hahaha...It says, Green Limousine for the Redhead, and it's a lyric from a Tori Amos song...i stenciled it and then sprinkled glitter on it...You'll have to ask ClassyLassy to see how well it held up in the wash...

A collage type necklace that I made, and it was my first piece of jewelry...

and my second piece of jewelry...SHRINKY DINK EARRINGS!!  I LOVE EM!  I need to make some for myself I think!

So, that's all the stuff I sent to her...

5  Re: funky petticoat... in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by aimmorg on: October 30, 2005 03:40:33 PM

1. assuming you'll want this to sit lower, take your "low waist" measurement.  this should be where the tops of most of your skirts and pants hit you.  (let's pretend it's 32")

2. take your hip measurement.  this should be the widest part of your bottom half.  (let's pretend it's 38")

3. cut out the yoke by folding your fabric in half and cutting out a front piece and a back piece.
the top of each yoke piece (front and back) should be 16" (our theoretical low waist measurement) with a few extra  inches for seam allowances and a zipper.
the bottom of each yoke piece should be 19" with a few extra inches.
the length should probably be around 8-10 inches, depending on how long you want the yoke to be.

hope that helps!
thanks...you're awesome...very detailed instructions...i'm really excited to make this one...

7  Re: sexy crochet tops/bikini - help in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by aimmorg on: September 14, 2005 04:23:07 PM
Ok, I finally got some pictures taken!

Here is my bikini top.  I used 1 skein of blue Brilla yarn (Filatura Di Crosa) and Mango Moons sari silk yarn for the trim.  I may line it with a little bit of padding, but I'm not sure.

Here is a photo of the top with the sari silk wrap I made.  I crocheted the waistband in the same Brilla yarn and then picked up stitches (over 100 of them) along the bottom with the sari silk and knit/purl 18 rows.  When I bound off, I dropped every second stitch and unraveled it all for a more open look.  It is very drapey and soft!  The color in this second photo is probably more true to life... it's a pretty bright blue and the sari silk has bits of the same blue in it.  I'm now working on a bikini bottom.

hey...good job...that really turned out great...i really like the wrap...i wish i could actually wear my top, cuz i really like it...argh...

That's hot!  Can I bother you to post your pattern?

sure...it's this...
Basically you start with a chain long enough to measure from under ur breast to your nipple, + 2.

SK 1st 2 CH, HDC to 2nd to last CH. [2 HDC, CH 1, 2 HDC] in last CH.

Then you're going HDC in the bottom of the chains on the other side. CH 2 at end of row, turn.

At the beginning of the following rows, DEC over 1st 2 STS.

HDC to the ST before the CH. [2 HDC, CH 1, 2 HDC] in CH. HDC to end of row.

At the end, make sure you HDC in the top of the CH 2 from the previous.

Now you go round and round, repeating the directions in bold. Finish off when you're sastisfied with the coverage.

here's the pic...

LilMissPink translated it for me...it was from a website in spanish...lemme know if you need help...a lot of it was on my own too...
