21  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / my bff's birthday party invite. designed by travis and me [pic!!!!] on: March 22, 2006 12:54:11 PM
I'm having a party for my favorite cute girl's birthday  this weekend. I just love the invite so I decided to share! I drew the girl, did the colorization with Illustrator, and my fiance did the layout and also guided the coloring, for i am a lowly pre-med student and he is the fabulous graphic designer. haha i just love it so much i needed to share. i hope someone else likes it!!!

thanks, loves!
22  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: wedding advice needed!!! on: March 19, 2006 07:44:04 PM
RugbyGirlMD:  Thanks for the advice! My FH and I decided a few months ago that we were going to get married on June 14, 2008. It's about a month after convocation, and 2 months before I (hopefully) start med school. We are having it in Philly, where we currently live. We've got vendors lined up already. I actually don't think it will be too difficult planning! But I'll be doing it my last year of under grad when not too much is going on. It's going to be a crazy time, though. Good luck with your wedding and with medical school! Thanks again for the advice! It's nice getting an opinion from someone who is in a similar situation!

Great tutorial!  I am a total beginner, and I managed not to mess it up too badly....thanks for making the directions simple & easy to follow.  I used a giant MF Doom tshirt and made this dress using your instructions.
It's a tad tight in the hips, but I am going to wear it anyways.  Maybe even tomorrow!  =)

amplified: you are fucking awesome for using an mf doom shirt. i'm jealous.

and GoombaLoveDisaster, you are fabulous for creating the dress. and it's so hot.

geeze, i need to make one.

Chelsea: bouncy balls = great idea!!!!

the sculpey isn't too heavy. i sort of like the weight. it probably weighs like half a pound. but baking the sculpey around aluminum foil is a great idea!!

thanks for the nice comments!

How did you get the hearts on the shirt to stick?

I just used Fabri-Tac Permanent Adhesive. I think i bought it at Wal-Mart last year? But it's just your standard clear fabric glue!

i have been in love with the large scarf necklaces that have been appearing since last spring. i had some extra sculpey and (as always) fabric laying around, and decided i would give it a go! i've seen a bunch of others on craftster, and i don't think that mine is nearly as lovely, but it is still fun!

i made the balls out of sculpey. and i had to sew multiple pieces of fabric together to make it long enough. it took about 63 inches of fabric.

comments and constructive criticisms welcome!

i'm happy that i'm getting so many positive responses! hopefully this means my sis will love the skirt.

and i hope someone else tries the bedskirt thing! it was so easy! i want pictures if anyone does it!

also, you could totally modify the skirt to your liking. i know that i wouldn't wear it the way it is because the skirt's just a bit too short for me! but you could add a longer waistband, or even use multiple bedskirts! i was thinking about just making a plain lining, and then sewing layers of bedskirts on it, so that there would be multiple layers of ruffles, and the skirt would be a little longer!

again, thanks everyone! i'm feeling really good about this gift!
