1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: Lots of Fun with the Overhead projector (VERY image heavy) on: May 17, 2006 07:32:06 PM
Also, anyone looking for overhead projectors to make your rooms awesome like the original poster has, I got mine at a school sale. Since there is so much technology available, they're not used that much anymore, and they tend to sell them for fairly cheap (I got mine for 15 bucks)

I'd love to make one of these for the apartment i'm moving into in a few weeks. I'd just worry that my cat would mess with it all the time
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: Spill Your Valentine's Ideas Here... I Won't Tell! on: January 26, 2006 08:46:49 PM
I always change my mind a million times before holidays on gifts for the boy.. but here is what I've got so far:
He got his main present, a ring, a few weeks ago (It has our names and the day we got together engraved on it)
Here are the other things I'll probably go with:
A book of 50 reasons why I love him
I bought a paper mache book-box at Michaels I want to decoupage a picture of an old map on
and another thing I want to do was inspired by an episode of Gilmore Gilrs (I have the first two seasons and we watch it all the time)... well there is an episode where all the women in Stars Hollow decorate their baskets all pretty-like and make a picnic lunch for guys and they bid on them.. So I thought I'd get a basket at JoAnn's or something and add some ribbon or something to it to pretty it up a bit. and then make him a lunch. (This would be good since Valentines Day is on a weekday and we'll both most likely have to work, we can do this in the few hours that day we'll have together)
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: "_____ in a box" gift ideas. on: January 18, 2006 08:23:09 PM
So I decided to do picnic in a box (or basket) for my boyfriend for Valentines Day. Anyone know where I can get a picnic basket for cheap? I'm looking around online and most of them are SO expensive, and I already bought him one present that was kind of expensive.

You could make him band t-shirts..like one for each member in his band? Ehh I suck =/ What does he play?
You can't wear the shirt of the band you're in! That's against the rules!  Grin
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Awesome teacup candles/smaller candles on: January 02, 2006 02:00:20 PM
I've made a few teacup candles, but always have such a hard time finding a teacup and saucer that match at garage sales, thrift stores, etc.
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Sewing Kit on: January 01, 2006 04:54:05 PM
I just got a new sewing machine for Christmas. I was wondering what things are essential for a good sewing kit. I will mainly be using the machine to make things like pillows, bags, purses, stuffed toys, etc.
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / World Valentine theme on: January 01, 2006 04:47:13 PM
I saw another thread on here somewhere a while back about someone getting a little globe and making a "You are my world" theme for Valentines Day. I want to do something like that, because my boyfriend likes globes and old maps and such.
Some of the ideas I have so far are to:

Make http://www.michaels.com/art/online/projectsheet?pid=j00284 this but use pictures of old world maps to decorate it
Get a globe (or make one if I can't find one for cheap) and on the base write somehow either "you are my world" or "you mean the world to me" or something to that effect

But... that's as far as my ideas go. Any others? Also, anyone know where I can get a cheap globe or know of any map or globe related fabric I can get (I just got a new sewing machine for Christmas so I figured maybe I could do a pillow or something)

I thought i'd start now while I'm motivated, cause.. otherwise.. I'll probably put it off.
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: My boyfriend really loved his gifts! :D on: January 01, 2006 01:30:35 PM
Aww, that's sweet =) are promise rings just engagement rings? Or am I missing something here?
Promise rings are sort of.... pre-engagement rings, I guess. That's what my boyfriend called mine.
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Candy themed reception on: December 30, 2005 05:13:46 PM
My sister is getting married in April, and she's decided on a candy/sweets theme for her reception. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for centerpieces, favors, decorations, or refreshments that would go well with her theme.
Also, she is having cupcakes, so she wants a fake cake so she can have a bride and groom topper, so any ideas on how to make those?
