Text says: I wish I was... Taller. Thinner. Not afraid of the dark. Smarter. More musical. More charming. More certain. I wish I was happier with me.

and the flip side

text reads: I hate inclusive language! He doesn't have "additional support needs", he is an extremely fucked up boy who makes the children and staffs days so much harder!

2  To Write Love On Her Arms Memorial Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by hardcoremothball on: July 14, 2008 12:20:00 PM
Forgive the back story but I feel it's necessary in order to understand how important this project is. If you don't really care just skip the words and go straight to the pics.

I met my friend Joe in a hospital setting. We were both there getting treatment for self-injury. Joe entered the hospital the day after I did and we were the same age. He was really depressed because his girlfriend had left him and he felt he had no reason to live. We spent Christmas together in the hospital. He "lived" right down the hall from me. On New Years Eve Joe committed suicide. I spent a year and a half of my life blaming myself for his death. He had said some strange things the night before and I was convinced if I had told a staff member at the hospital about them he would still be alive. This quilt is about finding the closure I desperately need. I made it in his memory and I'm donating it is his honor to To Write Love On Her Arms, a nonprofit that seeks to raise awareness about self-injury, depression and suicide. But mostly this quilt is about pain and hope. I'll be sending it out tomorrow but I couldn't make something like this and not share it with the craftster community. SO...Enough words...Pictures!

This is the whole quilt(my dad is 6'8" and he is holding it...for a better size reference)

This is a closer image of it

A close up on the pinwheel(those things are tricky!!)

And the 5 Hand embroidered squares

I think it turned out really well considering I've never done anything besides a simple block quilt for a baby before. I hate doing binding though. Its the bane of my existence. The binding didn't turn out so well but hey nobody's perfect. I took forever to cut out all the little triangles. But I'm glad it's done and I can send it along.

4  What the French Toast? in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by hardcoremothball on: June 28, 2008 02:52:11 PM
A while back I made these guys...

I showed them to a friend and she decided she needed her very own toast. I recently(and unsuccessfully) tried to give up swearing. Instead of using the F bomb and I could frequestly be heard shouting "What the french toast?". Its from that silly Orbitz commercial. She thought this was simply the funniest thing ever. So I decided to make...French Toast

His name is Pierre and he enjoys riding around on his vespa with his white scarf blowing in the breeze. He can often be found in French cafe's and writes poetry for his many lovers. He also hates American..Oh well.

Back with his butter showing

Close up on his hat

And a picture of him naked

Next I'm making astronaut toast I think...

5  Curling Ribbon+Crochet Hook=Many Purses in Crochet: Completed Projects by hardcoremothball on: May 20, 2008 04:53:58 PM
I went through a phase where I thought it was REALLY cool to knit/crochet with things that weren't traditional yarn. Some were hits some were misses. This was a hit! Curling ribbon is REALLY strong! Surprisingly so...The original prototype of this bag seems to have wandered off some where but these are all off shoots of it.

This one I made for my Aunt for use at the farmers market. Forget those plastic bags that are bad for the environment, go reuseable!

It comes with a small pocket on the one side and...

The handles are crocheted into the bag...This was a new addition to my pattern.

One of the first bags I made. I use this one as my purse and I love it! Please excuse the Beauty and the Beast sheets...Mine are in the laundry lol.

This one was made by request for my mom. We live at the beach and she wanted a larger bag that wouldn't hold sand in it. So I made this...Excuse the foot...

Well those are my bags. Comments and criticism welcome!

6  My Little Punk Rocker(lots of pics) in CHALLENGE 26 ENTRIES by hardcoremothball on: April 01, 2008 03:39:44 PM

Let me first start of this entry with a back story that provided the inspiration...

My nephew is three years old. One day he decided he needed a haircut...Not just any haircut...He wanted his hair to look like the big boys(my brother and his friends ages 11-13). My brother and his friends has recently all gotten faux-hawks. We decided hey, hair is hair and it grows back so we took Ryan to the hair cutter and told them to give him a faux-hawk.

This project was inspired by my nephews "big boy haircut" and by an old picture of his mother from when she was little(I don't have a scanner or I would add it also). A babysitter dressed her up to look like a punk rocker and took her picture. Here is what I came up with...

I didn't end up using the tights, I returned them and got a second black and white scarf.

The large black this is a place mat.

I also did not end up using the black table cloth(I took these pictures before I started lol). In total I used 9 things so my total including tax was $9.36.

And now for the final result!

My little nugget, Ryan...Well his top half anyway...

I kept asking him to make a mean face...But this is the best I got...

The pants were made from a table cloth and a dog collar, the hat and arm warmers from a scarf, the wrist cuff from a bracelet and the pink beads(painted gray with the paint set), and the messenger bag from the place mat and another scarf.

Individual pics...

Wrist Cuff(this was meant to look like a spiked wrist cuff)

Messenger Bag, Arm Warmers, and Hat set

Alright well thats my entry! Needless to say there were bribes of candy to get him to pose at all so sorry the pics aren't better. Thanks for looking!!!

7  Re: Postsecret Swap Round 3 GALLERY!! in The Swap Gallery by hardcoremothball on: March 02, 2008 06:43:47 AM
I have a bunch of post cards thathavent been posted yet. realy sorry guys i've been having a rough time trying to get things together for this thing i'm doing...

Here we go...

"I wish you could see that no one will ever be able to love and care for you the way I do"

This next one has 2 sides and lots of text but i'm only going to write the main text...
side one

Side 2

"I miss my best friend constantly, but when she comes to visit I can't wait for her to leave"

"I am secretly dating my married father of 2 co-worker. I'm in love with him and I hope we get married."

"I spent 5 years in college and never earned a degree. I took useless classes(like floral arranement) and failed the mportant ones(like physics). I tell people I graduated-and I put in on my resume."

"I love Japan. I don't say it to avoid weaboos"
I have no idea what this means...could someone fill me in...

Its hard to see but i think it say: "I miss my city"

"I hate her merely because she plays Lexie Grey. Once her and Meredith are cool, I might be able to tollerate her."

Once again...So sorry it took s long to post!!!

Got seven cards and here they are!

I semi-agree wth this. I prefer her to many of the other hollywood people but i think she is waaaaaaaay over exposed. she's everywhere and i'm sick of seeing her...

my mom wonders the same thing about me too...i never wanna go out and dooo things with the people i know...its ok though cause i wouldnt have time to craft if i did.

I wonder this abou my best guy friends...but they're gay...so it will never ever happen lol

I say hey...do want you want..it IS your body...

I deffinately ponder quitting my day job to craft....but then i remember i'm in college and can't....it's very sad really

The word on the edge say : I have wanted to say this for years!
This one made me laugh outloud. I can;t say  agree but I know other stes that have this problem. the mods get clique-y and its annoying...

Over the past couple days I got 5 secrets!!! I waited until I had a couple before I posted....Here they are!

When I showed this one to my mom she laughed at me(me not the sender) and asked if i made that one and sent it to myself. This is one of my secrets also(but not one i included in this round). thank you!!!

This card made me sad...also to the sender...you forgot to put your code on this postcard! please pm paperbag and let her know who this belongs to...

I like to sleep outside when it rain(under the porch roof) because its always so nice...

on the back it says "No Joke (unfortunately)"

Addiction sucks...a lot...I hope you figure it out how to stop before it hurts you to badly...

This one reminds me of a guy at work...he had the most digusting teeth and a semi-attractive girlfriend. It made me sad for her...plus the guy was a JERK...great card though!!!

10  Dollar Store T-shirt Given Life in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by hardcoremothball on: January 03, 2008 07:59:22 PM
I decided to put this here instead of the embroidery thread...If a Mod wants to move it I understand...

I made this shirt for my 11 month old brother. I was nervous as it was my first try embroidering on t-shirt. I found some cheap t-shirts at the dollars store and the best part was they were cool looking but completely plain. So I set out to embroider something fun. I'm not into traditional baby boy stuff(puppies, bears, ducks...whatever). I wanted to make him something cool so I opened my Sublime Stitching book and found some patterns that went together and
Ta-Da...a Cool(non-babyish) t-shirt is made.

Heres what the whole t-shirt looks like

Closer up to the front of the shirt

Detail pic of the Rocket(not super awsome quality i know i'm sorry)

And a pic of the back

I think it turned out great for being a first. There will be more to come as there is also a almost 3 yaer old in the house who has to have everything the baby has and a cousin who is the only girl baby i have to make things for. the only thing that went wrong was when i accidentally burn the t-shirt while putting the pattern on  Embarrassed  iron was too hot oops! lesson learned though lol.
Action shot to follow tomorrow as I didnt get home from work(where i finished this tonight) until 10 and aparently i'm not allowed to wake up to make him pose for pictures... Grin
