1  Re: Abandoned Art Swap Rd 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by loves2experiment on: Today at 02:37:56 PM
Abandoned two more of sheepBlue's whimsical creations on Friday Smiley

First stop of the day was at a local heroes memorial just off main street.  I placed it on one of the surrounding benches.
Sorry for the hastily snapped pictures.  I was planning to take a couple more when two police cruisers pulled up to check in on a group of unruly youth who were yelling expletives and trying to start a fight behind the memorial Tongue  I didn't think it was a good idea to stick around...

The second drop off was at a slightly off beaten path behind the local library.  It was an interesting spot because while there is some foot traffic, it is not usually accessed unless one was taking a short cut.  I nestled it between some branches on a low tree.  There were a few squirrels around the area and I'm pretty sure they were itching to check out the new addition to their neighbourhood when I left Wink

2  Two Wristlets for Fall 2017 in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by loves2experiment on: September 22, 2017 03:30:08 AM
Instead of lugging a purse, sometimes all I really need is my phone, ID, cash and favourite tube of lip balm Roll Eyes
I've been searching for suitable wristlets to purchase...ones which are large enough to accommodate the size of my phone.
Nope, no luck.  On to Plan B!
After digging through my stash of fabric scraps and drafting a couple of patterns, I came up with two wristlets.

The first one has a strap that is attached to a swivel hook.  The swivel hook clips onto the split key ring that is connected to the main body of the wristlet.
In a pinch, I can remove the strap and throw the zip pouch into my regular purse.

The second one has a zip gusset in the back for my phone (for easy access).
It is roomier than the first wristlet and can hold a few more items (if I need them).

Thanks for checking them out Cheesy

And I've heard from 2 wee monster finders!!

Quote
Hi there -

I work at Edward Jones in Ann Arbor and we have a fairy door where your kindness Monster appeared last week. He is so cute!

I took him with me to an orchard in Fenton and left him for someone to find. Let me know if they write you!

Kindly yours

 ~Deidra S.

So stoked that she opted to abandon the kindness monster for someone else to find!  She even included a picture!

And the second finder...

Hello my name is Renae, how are you? I'm sending this email to let you know I've found your abandonment and lovely note. Thank you I really appreciate it and this definitely made my day! Smiley

sheepBlue, you've chosen some amazing places to abandon the wee monsters...thanks for putting so much care and thought in placing them Smiley
And I love your latest faux taxidermy piece!  The parasol holding beverage sipping bun bun on a tiger's tush just makes sense Cheesy

Total slacker here, but I abandoned a second piece of your whimsical taxidermy last weekend.
I chose a local art plaza with fountains and steel sculptures by Claudia Fitch (a visual artist that is based in Seattle...just for you, sheepBlue Wink).
"The Arts Plaza's public art, Fine Tuned Tulle, is the inspiration of Seattle artist Claudia Fitch. Each pillar represents one of the four aspects of art – visual art, music, literature and dance. Visually, the pillars resemble a paint brush, trumpet, fountain pen and tutu." per the art plaza reservation site.
So yes, art on art Cheesy
Can you see it?

Here's the close-up!

Finally ventured outdoors today and I had plans to abandon a couple of sheepBlue's whimsical artwork Smiley

First stop, a pedestrian overhead crosswalk.  I figured if someone took the time to do the right thing, he/she will chance upon something awesome Cheesy
I opted to place the piece on the railing between the landing and the bridge (yay for magnets!).  It probably wouldn't have been good to place it on the bridge railing (in case it dislodges and hits a car) Tongue

No luck on my 2nd drop off location.  I wanted to find a spot in the local skate park but had to abort my covert mission.  A boisterous group of skaters showed up and I had to look like I was just checking out the area (yeah, it was obvious I didn't belong).

Gonna try again tomorrow!  1 down, 4 to go!

9  Wee Kindness Monsters! in Knitting: Completed Projects by loves2experiment on: September 08, 2017 02:10:29 AM

Be silly!  Be honest!  Be kind!
This mantra was in my mind as I knitted a batch of kindness monsters for the art abandonment swap.
I wanted to spread positivity in my art abandonment pieces, and I hope this does the trick!
Here's a link to the pattern I used for the monsters: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/a-little-kindness-monster
The original instructions call for worsted yarn, but I figured itty bitty was the way to go Wink
Each monster has its own fun personality, and it was a hoot to see them develop.

Amιlie - She loves creating banners and all things crafty...and yes!  Buttons!!!

Casper - Candy corn beanie dude who tries to look cool while secretly coveting all things Halloween and of course, candy!!!

Peyton - Kite flying enthusiast who has a passion for blue skies and spreading positive vibes.

Joss - Who doesn't love micro glitter and sparkle?  It's the gift that keeps giving... Tongue

Maxine - She's a bit of a feminist who has no compunction when it comes to speaking her mind Wink

Chase - Adventurous parachute adrenaline junkie who is happiest when he's in flight.

And if you've made it this far, here's a picture of another wip wee monster to give you an idea of size Smiley

The tiny monsters were so much fun to create! Cheesy
If anyone is interested, here's the link to the pattern I used: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/a-little-kindness-monster
My batch of monsters were smaller in size because I adore tiny things!
Here's a picture to give you an idea of size:

utm, the coral necklaces turned out great...and I love how you packaged them!  Whoever finds one will be stoked!  And I'm glad you'll be offering a few in the sts swap Grin

Plus all the spools unravel with messages inside - they were inspired by this project: http://ephemeralalchemy.blogspot.com/2010/02/thread-spool-poetry.html?m=1

calluna, the spool ornaments are fantastic!  Do you have any pictures of them showing the messages inside?  I would love to see more! Smiley
