31  Re: 100 Facts Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by hockamama on: July 20, 2009 12:04:44 PM
I received today, from TracyInNH, and I'm sososo excited!!  this was by far the best swap package I've ever received, and this swap was awesome!  I know everyone has said it a million times, but Craftastrophe, you did such a fantastic job pairing us up!

the whole shebang

the monster wreath on my wist

the fishbowl bag on my wist (which I must admit, I stole from her wist!)  the newest addition to our zoo (chowder) loves the bag as well.  Tracy said that she attempted the bag twice, before she tried it with cotton.  the fabric wasn't behaving for her, so she sent it to me so I would know what NOT to sew with!

a farm town shrinky dink bracelet...I heart this so much!  the tree she put on there happens to be my favorite farm town tree, the mango; my little house is framed by them on my farm

an embroidered sign she made me...so very true!

the cute little owl bookmark (in disguise that she made me) and some mario games that my mario obsessed young'un filched immediately

the secret inside of the bookmark...it's clark griswold's tirade against his boss when he finds out he didn't get a christmas bonus!  it's such a hoot, literally!  my all time favorite movie

and my very favoritest of all...the jeans butt apron she made, just for me!!  I was hoping that she would make me one, and I was SSSOOOO happy when I opened it.  obviously, chowder likes it, too!!

TracyInNH was such a fantastic partner, fun to craft for, and super fun to receive from!  thank you so much, TracyInNH and Craftastrophe!!

p.s. I recently started using craftster's photo hosting in the hopes that my pics would be bigger, but it doesn't appear to help...I'm not sure what else to do.  they're so small, it's hard to see...sorry!

ok, I was FINALLY able to get pics of my goodies.  I received the rapunzel scarves from myklia, along with some sweet extras!

my niece modeling the first scarf, it's got the little stars and neat gittery/foily decor

same niece modeling the other scarf, with 'fireworks' tails

then she also included some fabric (since her stalking told her that I sew) and some yarn and knitting needles, as her stalking again told her that I want to learn to knit.  she also gave me a website that would teach me to knit.

thank you so much, myklia!!  I love it all!

33  Re: Disposable Camera swap! in The Swap Gallery by hockamama on: June 24, 2009 11:36:38 AM
ugh...I've been delinquent in this post!  I'm sorry, siesna!  my fabu swap partner really went all out with the awesome frame!

isn't it gorgeous?!  look at all of those eyelets!!  she said in her note that if she never set another eyelet, it would be too soon.  I can imagine!

my friend potato head from the little visitor swap.  he really admires the frame, too

she sent me some GREAT pics, and it was difficult to choose which ones to post on here.  however, I think by my choices, you can tell I'm a sucker for cats

keiko, guarding her window

google, 'helping' siesna make my frame

google, fascinated with siesna's camera strap

a poor pontoon boat, marooned far from water

again, I'm sorry it took me so long to post these, I actually received on monday.  I really enjoyed this swap, and my partner was great; this was her first swap, I hope she enjoyed it and will keep swapping!

okay, here is my offering, FINALLY!  I sewed her together before we left for the mountains and stuffed and finished her on the trip.  a great way to pass the time, don't ya know!

let me introduce you to Miss Liberty Belle:

she is a little lopsided, the corduroy slips and slides so much, it's really hard to keep it in line.  I realize now that her socks are probly too long, you can barely see her legs under her skirt.  so, anyway, now I can focus on my other swap *wiping forehead*

I received a great package from my partner, bonbabbu, on saturday.  I really loved it!  and it was nice to see tuesday grace again.

the whole package, see tuesday?  she's so happy to be home!  she said that she had an excellent time, traveling with bonbabbu, but it's always nice to come home.

some cookies, yummy (YUMMY) chocolate, and some turkish tea.

a couple of volcanic rocks, which my 11 year old son soon confiscated for his own collection!

2 of my favorite pics from the scrapbook, the tree where hippocrates taught medicine.  how cool is that?  I would LOVE to see that in person.  there are so many awesome pictures in this book, bonbabbu took tuesday grace to greece and turkey.  I am so envious!

a leaf from hippocrates' tree

I loved this swap, it was so much fun, and the package was great!!

thank you, bonbabbu, you were a great partner, and thank you, kishcrafts, for such a great swap!!

Mr Potato Head arrived on saturday

and on sunday, we went to a pool party for my niece

you may notice that he's sticking his tongue out at the lifeguard, letting them know what he thinks of the KEEP OUT

a bit later, I noticed that he'd put on his bandit eyes and was fixing to snatch a cupcake!

but by the end of the evening, he was chillin on the lifeguard stand, enjoying the sunshine and childrens' laughter.  he knows how to have fun, that's for sure Grin

on wednesday, we traveled to maggie valley up in the mountains of north carolina for our annual united methodist conference.  we're staying in a little mom and pop motel, with our minister and her family; her daddy is also a minister.  I can't tell you how much fun these people have had with mr. potato head...atleast as much as me.  and my husband!  he's taken so many pics on his blackberry and emailed them to his friends and coworkers and put them on his facebook page.  he keeps getting texts from people asking what potato head is doing now!

anyway, these are wednesday night:

he's using his mr. incredible arm to hold on to the bottle...

but he just can't do it

drunken tater

on thursday, we went to cherokee and mined for emeralds

found one!!

thursday evening found us at granny's country kitchen

freaking out about the mashed potatoes and french fries~he puts his cruella teeth in when he gets upset

the owners have all these statues on the mantle, so he wanted to go meet them; he blends in too well

With 3 children in the house, I'm sure the dragon would find a home...if the cats don't attack it first! lol

when I read this, my first thought was this pic I snapped of waffle loving the teddy I got in the winter round.  my niece stole it from me and carried it around in her buggy, but waffle would NOT leave it alone!

I sat out the last round because I couldn't find my crafting mojo, but I think it's time to get back in the sewing chair.  it killed me to miss my first round...I have an offering in mind, just waiting for approval.

oh, goodness, I'm getting so excited!!  I'm sorry it took me so long to get this pic posted; my husband discovered my pogo account, and now I can't seem to get him off the computer!

anyway, this is my precious LV, Tuesday Grace

she's a petulant little piggy, and thinks nothing of running around in nothing but her favorite socks.  I've explained to her that she really should put a skirt or some article of clothing on if she's going to leave the house, but presently we're at loggerheads.

39  frankenstein ipod cozy in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by hockamama on: February 12, 2009 07:02:58 PM
I hope this post is in the right category, if not, hopefully someone in the know will relocate it.

I inherited my daughter's old ipod, and I needed some kind of protection for it.  since it's green, she's always called it frankenstein, so that's naturally the direction I went with a cozy.

you can't really tell in the picture, but his scar is done with metallic floss.  I blanket stitched the 2 pieces of green together.

and these 2 pieces together, then to the outer pieces, with a gap at the bottom for the earbuds.

his bolts fold around and velcro to the back to keep it closed.

the warm ipod and his cozy Smiley

40  mama and baby owl in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by hockamama on: February 12, 2009 06:53:27 PM
Inspired by this post, https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=285708.0

I made my daughter this purse for her birthday.

the body was an abercrombie sweater in it's former life.  the owls and branch came from 2 other sweaters that I found at Goodwill and felted.  the baby owl is sporting a heart charm that I found in my button stash.

the flowers were all buttons that I had in my stash.

the handle was a belt that I found at Salvation Army.  the sweater that the body is made of was not 100% wool, so it didn't felt as well, and was still pretty stretchy when I sewed it to the lining.  the inside pockets are all made from the body sweater.
