21  Re: $4.95 Swap AKA Fill a SMALL Flat Rate Box R3 Signups CLOSED Sendouts 3/25 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by hockamama on: March 01, 2011 03:54:57 AM
I've been occupied with other swaps, so I haven't been on this thread in the last few days.  Here are my haves/wishes:

I have: buttons, little mushroom birds, buttons, googly eyes, buttons, sticky back velcro dots, buttons, wooden ready to paint ornaments, buttons, mini clothespins, buttons, rub-on faces, buttons, push molds for polymer clay, buttons, cutters for polymer clay.  Oh, and I have some buttons.  Lots on cards, many vintage, and MANY loose.

I also have these things that are like buttons, but without backs, so I guess you glue them on projects....I have a buttload of them, alot of Christmas and kid designs.  (pics below)

I wish for:  tiny treasures for I-spy pillows, embroidery thread, zippers, little toys to put in geocaching finds...anything, really.  But no buttons, PLEASE   Roll Eyes

22  Boombox Macbook Cover in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by hockamama on: January 31, 2011 09:09:58 AM
My daughter turned 23 Wednesday, that really makes me feel old!  She fancies herself a child of the '80's, even though she can't possibly remember them, having been born at the tail end of the decade.

I had been entertaining the idea of making her a cover/case for her new Macbook, but I was struggling with the right inspiration.  Then I saw a costume accessory somewhere on the web that gave me the push I needed.

I thought about making it out of felt, but I was afraid it wouldn't hold up well, so I used fleece instead.  I used fusible fleece on both the lining and the shell, for added padding.  Prince is playing on the tape deck, which I covered with a piece of vinyl to look like the door.  Poor Prince is crooked, though Roll Eyes

I was originally going to make handles, but the more I thought about it, I decided that an adjustable strap would be more in keeping with a boombox.

The lining-what self respecting hippie can be without peace signs?

Perfect fit!!  (after a couple of adjustments and an add-on, of course  Tongue)

23  Betty the Ballerina Monster in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by hockamama on: January 31, 2011 08:46:32 AM
I went to a baby shower this weekend, and I wanted to give the big sis a little something.  So, I decided to make her an Ugly-inspired doll.

Here she is wearing her little tutu

Flaunting her heart tattoo

Her mishmash hair

I had so much fun making this little gal, I think I'll make a bunch of them to keep!

24  Super Awesome Rock Star Hooded Towel for Baby Shower in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by hockamama on: January 31, 2011 08:40:58 AM

I made this for baby Rush, whose shower was this weekend.  I used a bath towel, and a hand towel, and trimmed it with the coolest guitar print that I found at Walmart.

Then I made a drawstring bag from the guitar print to present it in.

This was my first attempt at a hooded towel, and it was well received, so it may become my baby shower go-to gift.

Cookie arrived today Grin  He's so adorable!!

Here's the package waiting to be opened.  I really wanted to open it, but I also wanted to make the excitement last....what to do?

Yep, I opened it!  Isn't he the cutest thing?!  And look at that chocolate bar there.  I'm not gonna lie, there was a pack of choc chunk choccies in there, as well.  I couldn't wait to dig into them, so they didn't make it into the picture  Roll Eyes  And they were YUMMY!!

Cookie is getting to know Oreo, the alpha guy here.

Here he is, making friends with Waffle.

Allow me to introduce Tuesday Grace....

She's a petulant little piggie who loves to romp around and have loads of adventures.  She went to Belgium and Greece in a previous LV swap, and hasn't stopped talking about it since.  She tells everyone she meets about what a great time she had.  She's ready for a new adventure!

27  Valentine's Classroom Card Exchange...Round 2 (signup Jan 9-16 sendout feb 4/11) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by hockamama on: January 09, 2011 01:34:08 PM
Since we have our first sender, I started a gallery  Wink
https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=371165.0

Welcome to Round 2 of the Valentine's Classroom Card Exchange!  This swap is for you to express your artistic talents via Valentine Cards.

Here is the original discussion thread:
https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=368739.0
And the first round thread:
https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=284973.0

Directly plagarized from round 1--->This will be a swap in which everyone makes one card for everyone else in the swap, just like in elementary school where you brought in a card for everyone in the class.  The maximum number of swappers will be 24.

You may specify a maximum number of cards to send that is less than 24 and I promise I will do my best to match you up with that number of partners, but I cannot guarantee that I will be able to match you up with that exact number!

Since you can't get a DC number for regular envelopes, feedback will be based on if your partners recieved or not. If your card(s) is/are not received after two weeks you will need to send another one to avoid negative feedback.

Remember, you may be required to make and send more cards if any that you send are lost in the mail.

You can make whatever kinds of cards you are inspired to make, as plain or as fancy as you'd like.  You can make them production-line style.  The only rule is to make something that you would like to receive!  Any materials are acceptable although I expect papercrafts might rule this swap.  No stalking required.  Whatever style you like to make is fine - jokes, doily-victorian, sappy, corny, goofy, fun, dark, anatomical, creepy-cute, whatever makes your heart beat faster!

28  Re: Friends of Craftster Raffle Swap R7 FOCR R7 Gallery - Best of 2009 in The Swap Gallery by hockamama on: November 26, 2009 10:25:38 AM
I received from Hollistercobabe yesterday!  It was late when we got home from the Transsiberian Orchestra concert, so I opened it and oohed and ahhed, then I put the package in my workroom, out of the reach of naughty kitties.  Then this afternoon, when I sat down to take a break from the chaos that is Thanksgiving prep at my house, I remembered it.  I can't tell you how cute this stuff is!!  So you'll have to see for yourself:

measuring tape and the sweetest little owls!!

lounging in the sun in my workroom...the cats want these things so bad, I almost feel guilty for not letting them have them!

the adorable measuring tape, getting used to her new home, making friends

thank you so much, Hollistercobabe, they are all so precious!!

okay, I'm finally getting around to posting pictures of my offering.  I've been pestering our dear organizer for a month to get this round up and going, and then I wait till the last day to sign up, and then the last day to post!  I'm sorry, tsm.  I wasn't sure what to offer, and I ran out of time to make something, so I'm using a purse I made last Christmas.  this weekend was really busy, so I'm just now getting around to getting the pics up.

without further delay, here is the santa purse:

the front

the back

single pocket

double pocket.  disregard the safety pin holding the bell on.  I need to re-attach it.  the thread I used for the test run didn't hold up well.

the fabric is actually a cranberry-ish color.  I love this purse, but I have a Christmas purse that I love more, so I won't carry it.  I hope someone likes it and will give it a good home Smiley

ok, I'm finally getting my slacker butt around to posting pictures...the right one s this time!

chowder, guarding the birthday cake

my daughter jesska and her friend savannah, at savannah's baby shower

my son tony thought he should wear his costume while we watched the dark knight

my niece, madison, wearing a costume we found at salvation army

emma-my niece and full time job-'wunning' into the library

the tracks that run in front of my house, seen from the bridge to a friend's house

my sister, pepper

I'm still not sure why all of my pictures are so small.  I've used flickr and craftster hosting, with no discernible difference, so maybe it's something I'm not doing right?  any suggestions?

p.s.  this was so much fun!  I enjoyed taking the pictures, but I really enjoyed making the scrapbook.  and seeing my partners' pictures!
