1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / total surprise swap *edit* crafty detective round 3?? on: October 26, 2006 11:24:07 AM
i don't know if this has been done--if so, i totally missed it.
would anyone be up for a swap where what your partner
sent you was totally based on post stalking? you would
have no idea what they were sending. i think it would be
really fun--kind of secret pal-y, but with just one send out.

maybe they could be wrapped and we'd wait until christmas
to open them? i don't know--what do you think?

update: TheRehn let me know that this has been done
in the form of the crafty detective swap!
so how about a round 3?

3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Renaissance Faire Crafts? Guitar Show Crafts? on: August 03, 2006 10:38:28 AM
My boyfriend is going to be selling instruments with his dad at a Renaissance Faire in a couple of months. I was thinking that, since I'll be there anyway, I might try to sell some crafty wares. I don't want to bring things that are wildly inappropriate for the faire, so I thought I'd see if anyone had any suggestions.

What do people look for at Renn Faires?
What crafts are usually sold at Renn Faires?
Are there things that I could make that wouldn't really be competing with other sellers?
Maybe craft kits of some kind that would be appropriate?

Thanks for any help!
If their booth does well, we may be going to these pretty regularly and I'd like to contribute in some way.

Oh, and we also go to guitar shows...any ideas for those? I'm working on some guitar straps, but I could always use new ideas.

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Any Ideas for Making This? on: July 28, 2006 11:28:38 AM
I love this coat rack from Design Public, but it's about $1,650.00 more than I can afford to spend. Anyone have any ideas? I thought about papier mache, but I'm not sure if there is a way to make it strong enough. It says that it's made of cast resin with a powder coated steel base...help!

6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Semi-Wilty Lettuce + __________ = Tasty! on: December 14, 2005 06:59:14 PM
Help me out here! I have a package of semi-wilted (more on the wilty side of semi-wilted) romaine hearts. It's full and my food guilt will not let me just throw them out. What should I make?
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Yarn Paralysis! on: December 14, 2005 05:43:39 PM
Do you ever have a yarn that you love so much you can't decide what to do with it?
It just sits in your stash taunting you with its awesome-ness!
I'm having this problem with two yarns right now. I just can't make a decision!

9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Any luck with church fairs? on: December 09, 2005 10:28:56 PM
I did some searching, but didn't find much. So, I thought that I would ask if any of you have had any luck selling at church craft fairs. I'm in Oklahoma and there aren't a lot of craft fairs at all. The bigger ones are generally too expensive for me. I see church fairs all the time, but I'm not sure if it's worth going. I was thinking about selling plushies, monsters...some made of felt, some of corduroy, etc.

What do you think? Is it worth my $30+time?
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Has Anyone Else Had This Shipping Problem? on: December 09, 2005 06:44:33 PM
My swap partner shipped my package on the 1st. It seemed like it had been plenty of time, so today I checked the DC number. The post office says that it was delivered on the 3rd, but I never got a package or a pick-up slip. That was six days ago. Does the delivered date mean that it was delivered to the post office on the 3rd or to my mailbox on the 3rd? I've never had this problem before. Has anyone else?
What should I say when I go to the post office tomorrow?
