And finally, what she made for me:

This Gorgeous Bastet paper dolly, yes--that's a basket of kittens!! This is getting framed!

A gorgeous portrait of the Lord and Lady for my BOS, this is perfect!!

Bookmarks, the Horned God and Me in my gypsy troop garb!! I love them!

mini Lord and Lady it says "Lord and Lady guide the homeward steps of parting friends." Ironic since a friend of mine is moving to NC.

Book thong! also makes a good cat teaser in between turning pages, lol! My cat loves tassels. The charm is a dragonfly goddess!!

Stamps for my pages and a swarovski crystal star from Phrixy! I was going to use it as a cell-phone charm, but realized that my BOS actually has loops on the side, so it will be a decoration for my book Smiley

AWESOME hand-made incense. I've simply had these packages sitting on my kitchen shelf and my house has smelled lovely ever since--even without opening them or burning them! Thank you so much!

I feel totally spoiled with all of the gorgeous artwork and crafts! Thank you so much!!

Here is the package I sent to icekibby, minus the wand that I forgot to take pictures of--I'm posting for her since she's having technical difficulties.

Two pages of Batard-hand Calligraphy, front and back, for her BOS. One is on The Charge of the Goddess and the other is on Chakras. I left a margin so they can be sewn into the BOS she plans to make one day. For now they can be added to her binder with the help of clear plastic page protectors.

A pelican-feather quill and homemade lamp-black ink sealed with red wax in a corked glass bottle. I also included some extra parchment.

A rosewood box--I did not make this.

I also sent a chakra wand but did not take pics. Sad

But anyway, it was a fun package to put together! I've never done that much calligraphy before, lol.

I will make this swap  1 medium, and two smalls--with the ability to do more being between partners.

So for instance, you could make one book, a quill pen, and a fancy book mark. For someone with a book already, you could make a small assortment of single-sided chunky pages, a rubber stamp, and a book plate. Also, small items can be supplies like jars of ink, stamp pads, paper ephemera, etc!

Any extra splurging and spoiling is up to you are your partner!  Grin Grin Grin

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

Name of swap
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name

Any deity/deities/etc. that are special to you?

Are you out of the broom closet? (Do your friends and/or family know you are Pagan/Otherwise Spiritual?)

Is there anything in particular you would want for your book of shadows?

Describe your Book of Shadows, if you have one:

Are you ok with tasteful nudity in art? (Goddess depictions and etc.)

Do you have favorite colors, stones, herbs, etc?

Is there anything you do NOT want?

Would you be willing to learn about and craft for someone else's traditions that may be different from your own?

Is there anything you wouldn't be willing to craft for because of your beliefs?

What kinds of crafts do you do?

Do you have any allergies or aversions to anything? What are they?

What allergens are in your environment?

What are your thoughts on the TV show Charmed?

***Disclaimer in the interest of full disclosure: You are still welcome to join in on the swap if you are not witch/wiccan/pagan/otherwise spiritual, just know that there is a definite spirituality/religious tradition that goes into these books, and a BOS might mean something different to your partner than it does to you, and your partner may not want to craft something from the show Charmed. It's totally cool if you both like the show though--I just don't want someone to think that they're getting paired up with another Charmed fan, and receive a full fledged witch instead and feel uncomfortable.

I have read the disclaimer, and I'm cool with it: Y/N

Anything else you want to add?

Also, remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find other rules about participating in a swap.

7  Adding Gold Leaf to Illuminated Lettering on Paper?? in Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions by Saturn on: June 24, 2011 12:40:14 PM
Hi All,

I debated with whether to put this question in here or in "more art, less craft" forum, but I'm making an artsy book and am getting into ATC's so I settled on this forum.  Grin Anyways...

Anyone know anything about applying gold leaf to illuminated lettering on parchment paper??  Huh

I've watched Youtube videos that aren't exactly clarifying on the supplies needed--one artisan even called whatever adhesive is used "sticky stuff". Gee...that clears things up. Other artisans seem to skip over minor steps in an effort to make the video lessons short and sweet, also they don't recommend any products.  Undecided

What I'm trying to achieve is mirror-like (or darn close) gold leafing accents on my calligraphy projects to make them look like Medieval texts.

The stuff that looks like this: (this is not my work)

I e-shopped around for a beginner's kit, but they all seem to be for projects that aren't paper like picture frames and such. I know the process is called "water gilding" but there seems to be an easier method for raised leafing using some sort of gesso that dries a caramel color that you blow on before applying the leafing? (To add to my confusion)

Can anyone tell me about the basic process and the basic supplies?

Thanks for any help you may provide!  Grin

Yeah soo...I'm a bit late in posting these, lol. I got this package about a week or so before Samhain and this was my angel package from Tigercub_Wabbit, who is a bit mysterious because she closely followed my questionnaire, but I haven't actually received a PM from her, lol.  I PM'ed her a thank you, took pics, and even uploaded them last month...I'm just that ditzy apparently...but here they are now.

The package is from Israel, which broadened my view on Wicca in general...Here in the US, we are flooded with images of conflict between Israel and Pakistan, and it's hard for me to wrap my mind around how awesome it is that there are people familiar to The Path there. I know that sounds closed minded, but what I'm trying to say is that I was completely uplifted to know that WWP paths exist in surprising places (or maybe just surprising to me). For what it's worth...those are my thoughts. Blessed Be Smiley

warning, some artsy boobies below

Group shot!

God and Goddess Yin-Yang Candle Holders in my favorite altar color scheme

a Ganesha mini Painting to add to my Ganesha mini-painting collection!

A wood-burned altar bowl!

incense! these are so nice, and they don't smell ashy at all, just beautiful scents!

I love it when I get books! I have 2 weeks of vacation for the holidays at work and school. (Ahh...the joys of working at a college) So I plan on kicking back with a glass of wine and all my books! (Guess I'll need more then a glass for all the books i'm planning on reading...hehe)

Snacks from Israel!!

Here's my package from Fullmoon! The only thing not pictured is some of my candy that she sent...she asked what kind of candy I liked best and I told her sour stuff...so most of it was devoured by hubby and me! lol

Cute little goddess painting and votive candles that she sent separately.

A goddess ornament for yule, a tin shrine, runes in my favorite colors, a note she included on some anime stationary, and a pentacle made from chain!

Here's all that's left of the candy now, lol....she sent me Airheads Sour belts and these sour Spree. I haven't had candy like this since High school...it was awesome Wink
