1  Tree of Life pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by MrsSquidley on: March 21, 2007 06:15:44 AM
I finally dragged out the beading goodies yesterday and made a Tree of Life pendant. I used adventurine and sterling silver

and one with my hand in there so you can see the size

This one is for my sister and there is another I'm working on for myself. I have plain flat disk garnets(would act as an apple) and I'm debating adding one... just one to each tree. I think it would be a really cool feature and add to the meaning of the tree. *shrug* I'll update the pic's if I decide to add it.
Thanks for looking!

2  Re: Halloween House Decorations-- everyone post your pictures / share ideas in Halloween Decor and Parties by MrsSquidley on: October 03, 2006 08:23:05 PM
We set a graveyard every year. This year we changed things up a bit and I made all new tombstones. In fact we're getting a late start setting things up this year. I just finished painting the stones this evening. The weather is suppose to be crappy tomorrow, but I should have the yard set up by Saturday. I'm a little sad that we may not be able to display our flying crank ghost (made entirely  by me! lol) this year as we tinted the front windows of our mobile home and I don't think it will be visable. So I'll share a pic of it from last year. If I can figure out a way to hide the stand up fan I used to power the ghost on our porch I'll set it up on Halloween night only.

Anyway... here's the pic... the arms and head move up and down at different times... It really freaked people out.

3  Homespun knit purse in Knitting: Completed Projects by MrsSquidley on: February 04, 2006 08:53:41 PM
I wasn't sure which forum this belonged in as it could go in several, but I thought other purse makers would appreciate it the most.

I started with this...

My second homespun yarn, Kool-Aid dyed wool... I call it "With a Twist of Lemon"

After ripping out several scarves I started with this yarn I decided it needed to be made into something that would truely show off it's colors properly. Plus I ended up with only 68 yards of yarn so any scarf was going to have to be thin to have any length to it.
What I made was this instead...

I lined it with some purple tie dye type cotton from the quilt wall at Jo-Annes.
Thanks for looking and for allowing me to share my knitting addiction in yet another forum other than the knitting or spinning forum!  Cheesy

4  Re: Fiber Friday! in Spinning: Completed Projects by MrsSquidley on: January 06, 2006 06:11:39 PM
It's been a while since I spindled this yarn. Since September to be exact and it was just hanging out on my spindle all plied. I kinda lost my nerve somewhere, but I think I found it again.... long story.
I set the twist yesterday and I think I'll work it up into something later this weekend. It's approx. 68 yards. Lemon, grape, lime and orange KoolAid dyed.

5  Fingerless gloves/ half gloves in Knitting: Completed Projects by MrsSquidley on: October 24, 2005 07:46:44 PM

Pretty basic. I've made tons of mittens before, but not on dpns and tons of socks before on dpns so this was my first project having to do with the hands and dpns. I was scared of the fingers, but it was cake! I can't wait to make full gloves now.

They are basic wool/acrylic blend with the pattern half made up by me and half from Family Circle Easy Knitting Holiday 2004 issue. I did them in black because they were originally for my semi goth son, but his fingers wouldn't fit in the fingers... an over sight by me.. I could have made a few adjustments so they would have fit, but I stupidly didn't check them on him until I had one completely done. I don't think he'll lose any sleep over it.... I don't think he would have worn them much.... 6th grade things that keep you warm can be pretty "out" even though we live in the snow belt region of upstate NY with an annual snow fall of 160 inches!! *sigh*

Thanks for the comments. Here's a pic of the final product. I can't wait to toss these on with a big sweater (made by me of course!) on a cold fall day!

7  It's a start! ** 2nd pic added** in Spinning: Completed Projects by MrsSquidley on: September 26, 2005 07:04:24 AM
Only 4oz and a bit thick and thin, but it's a start. I'm not even sure what kind of wool this is. A lady at the NY state fair wool shed gave it to me. This is my first yarn, koolaid dyed with berry punch. This has since been made into a a pair of fingerless gloves... real basic, just knitted in sst and seamed up the side with a place left in seam to insert my thumb. I added a bow on the back of each.... I used every bit of this yarn that I could!! lol

8  Earrings and bracelet in Beads: Completed Projects by MrsSquidley on: August 15, 2005 08:00:43 PM
Hi All!
I'm new to the board, but I've been crafting for over 20 years or so. I've done all kinds of crafts and own my own handmade soap coampany(on break at the moment). Recently I've been getting more and more into jewlery making (when I'm not knitting  Tongue )
Anyway.... here's my latest creations.

The bracelet was snagged by my sister the minute she saw it. It's done with tigertail and some neat Swarovski crystals. There are 2 strands that have crimp beads seperating the beads and then one last strand that has the beads floating. The earrings are made with sterling silver wires and headpins. I'm in the process of making a matching bracelet to the earrings.

Thanks for looking.
