1  Pillowcase as cure for crafty-block? in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by uglygreen on: April 28, 2007 07:07:50 PM
So, I have had a major case of crafty-block.  I don't think I've really done anything since the end of January.  So, we'll see if my crafting tonight means I'm getting motivated again.

Tonight, I got inspired or something and embroidered the border of a pillowcase.

Here's the damage:

A (blurry) close-up of the rocket:

2  Finished kittyville! in Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller by uglygreen on: October 22, 2006 07:34:58 PM
Yay!  I finished my bright green kittyville hat!

I used Mission Falls 1824 in a bright grassy green (the picture doesn't do justice to the awesomeness of the green.)

It was my first time picking up stitches, despite the fact that I've been knitting for a few years now...

How'd I do?

3  I can't decide if I like this Cherry Garcia neckwarmer. Help! (kinda pic heavy) in Knitting: Completed Projects by uglygreen on: September 22, 2006 09:33:02 PM
So, I knit this up pretty quickly in cheap acrylic yarn, but I can't decide if I like the combination of the colorway and the cables together...Is it too busy?

You can't really tell what colors are in it from these, so here's a pic of just the neckwarmer...

So, opinions welcome!

4  Re: Ribbed Ruffle Shrug (Interweave Knits) in Knitting: Completed Projects by uglygreen on: September 17, 2006 07:10:16 PM
I made this, but i might frog it, cause I don't think i like it with the yarn i used...

(before i sewed it together)...i didn't have enough of the blue yarn...

I really like the way it looks in the Mission Falls (i used Jo Sharp Silk Road)

And I actually like it with the slightly less ruffly sleeve...

5  Go Bucks hat... in Knitting: Completed Projects by uglygreen on: September 16, 2006 07:38:48 AM
So, I had two days to come up with a birthday present for my uncle, and here's what I came up with:

He's a big Ohio State fan.

I modified the pattern from Hip Knit Hats.  The pattern called for it to be knit top down, but I rewrote it to go bottom up, and I changed up the dimensions a little.  I used a cheapie bulky acrylic from Walmart (cause I'm broke, I was on rather tight deadline, and I didn't want to give him anything he couldn't throw in the washer and dryer) on size 11s.

I'm pretty pleased with how it came out, especially cause it only took me about four hours to finish once I actually got started on it.

So, what do you think?

6  My first skirt...(a couple of pictures) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by uglygreen on: September 10, 2006 11:46:19 AM
So, not counting a skirt I made when I was in girls scouts many many years ago, I finished my first skirt today!  It took longer than expected, mainly cause i messed up a few times and needed to play around to do the waistband, etc.  I'm pretty pleased with it, althought the back doesn't look that great...What do you think?

7  Completed sleep mask from In Stitches! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by uglygreen on: September 08, 2006 05:18:53 PM
I just got my sewing machine last weekend, but I've been itchin' to stich all week.  Today, I made the sleep mask from Amy Butler's In Stitches!

And here's me wearing it (I look awful, but pretend I just woke up Wink):

I had some problems stitching evenly around the edges, especially the topstitching.  I love the projects in this book.

So, what do you think?

8  My first FO on my new sewing machine! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by uglygreen on: September 03, 2006 01:36:46 PM
So, I just got my first sewing machine yesterday!  I was experimenting a little, refreshing my skills (I learned how to sew years ago, and every few years I get the bug to sew, so I broke down and decided to get serious about it), and I came up with this:

It's a cardholder or wallet thingee.

(Sorry about the bad quality of the photos...)

I even figured out how to make a button hole!  (With the help of my machine manual.)

What do you think?

9  Wristwarmers/Paparazzi deflectors in Knitting: Completed Projects by uglygreen on: August 28, 2006 08:12:42 PM
I just finished these wristwarmers from Last Minute Knitted Gifts.  I used Mission Falls 1824 Wool in Thyme (I love when I can use some of my stash!) on size 7 dpns.   The joke in the subject line refers to my classy, classy pictures...

How do they look?  (I know they work, and I'm bringing them to my office tomorrow.)

10  First embroidery (in 17 or so years) from Stitch-It Kit in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by uglygreen on: August 27, 2006 05:39:14 PM
So, I finished my first project from the stitch-it kit.  I put each one angled in a corner of one of the tea towels that came with the kit.  (The green floss I bought separately.)

I need to work on making my stitches more even.  I used to embroider when I was a kid, but it's been a very long time.

(And sorry if the pictures aren't great.  My camera is in the shop, so I had to use Photo Booth to take them.)
