1  Re: Friendship Bracelet Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by PinkyK on: April 24, 2010 05:14:17 AM
I have received all three of my bracelets and I LOVE them all!

I got this one from ckchan - I adore the square pattern! I might have to learn this one.

This gorgeous one is from craft and bake - the way the green goes from light to dark is just awesome!

This one is from mannon2 - I love green and purple together!

Thank you all so much, Great work!  I'm already wearing them!

2  Interchangeable Shopping Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by PinkyK on: April 01, 2010 05:52:00 AM
I saw that changeable purse on TV and said Pa-Shaw! I can make one of those! So here it is!

I made one in a nice neutral tone to go with everything.

The other side has this nice earthy pattern that says go green!

Then I made this one for when I'm feeling spunky I love the cool graphic print!

Here is a close up of the knot work I did to attach the handles.

I plan to make one to go with every outfit!

Comments and questions welcomed.

3  Re: The random RESIN question thread! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by PinkyK on: March 27, 2010 01:13:46 PM
Here are some magnets I did in an ice tray, castin craft resin and green glitter. There is glitter through out the entire magnet it did not settle on the bottom. I attribute that to the massive amount of glitter I used. The only problem is the green coloring from the glitter ran a bit and colored the resin green. It turned out fine for this project but for another project it may have been a problem. I dd the same thing in silver, gold and red and it worked in exactly the same way.

4  Re: Come celebrate National Craft Month! Share your pictures of "crafting in public" in Craftster Itself by PinkyK on: March 15, 2010 12:23:44 PM
Last Friday my sister-in-law Ann and I ran a bunch of mundane errands and I crafted along the way.

This is what I'm working on... my MIL and FIL are buying a king sized bed and I'm embroidering the pillow cases that go with a set of king sized sheets I got them for Christmas.

We started with a yummy breakfast at a local place called Bada Bean.  MMMMMMM Quiche and rye toast!

While eating a guy seated next to us started talking to us about the local art scene, the good and bad of it....etc. All because I was being crafty in public..and because he liked my sunglasses.  Cool

Next stop Verizon. Ann needed to have info transferred to her new phone. I sat and embroidered.

Smile for the camera!

Next stop FedEx, Ann had to send something out. Again, I embroidered!

The people working at FedEx were super cool and crafty! Here I am with the FedEx lady!

It was an extremely productive day, lots of boring errands done, lots of progress made on my WIP, and most of all lots of crafting cheer spread across Tallahassee!

6  Faux Bois Handbag in CHALLENGE 39 ENTRIES by PinkyK on: June 05, 2009 06:44:34 PM
I have wanted to do a challenge for months but it seemed time just got away from me. This time I was determined. I got a Lumber Liquidators catalogue in the mail and knew I had to make a handbag!

The Finished Product
Just a cute little wood grain handbag with a macrame handle. A wink and a nod to this year's April Fool's prank. I made it using ye olde candy wrapper chain method that I think I learned in Girl Scout camp.

7  My new/old favorite ring in Glass Crafts: Completed Projects by PinkyK on: May 29, 2009 05:47:28 AM
I've been taking a jewelry making class for a while now. It's really silver smithing we work with acetylene torches and mostly sterling silver. Here is my new favorite piece.

The stone is a fused glass cab I made. It used to be mounted on an adjustable glued on ring back. I took that setting off with pliers and ground it down so the back would be flat and I could set it properly.

Once I had the setting done I decided that it needed a little more pizazz than just a simple single ring back so I did a double band.

It's my new fave I wear it almost every day.  Grin It's a vast improvement from the glued on adjustable ring this cab used to have!

8  Quiche, Quiche Lorraine in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by PinkyK on: May 05, 2009 07:03:51 AM
A while back the Craftster Challenge was craft a favorite song. I was stoked! I was going to make Quiche le Poodle from the B-52s' song Quiche Lorraine. One thing lead to another and I just didn't get it done.  Sooooooo when I went to my local polymer clay guild meeting Sunday (those ladies are awesome, by the way!) I decided I'd make Quiche.

Here is how the song goes:

"...Has anybody seen a dog dyed dark green, about 2 inches tall with a strawberry blond paw, sunglasses and a bonnet and designer jeans with appliques on it..."

And here is Quiche from 4 different angles so you can see each of the elements from the song. Teapot did the appliques. But I did the rest.

I'm VERY new to poly clay, it was fun to make something silly. Now Quiche sits on my desk like a proper guarad dog.

9  Sailing, and econ, and embroidery and presents - a few of my favorite things. in Needlework: Completed Projects by PinkyK on: May 05, 2009 06:45:13 AM
I'm a full time grad student and the semester just finished. My Economics professor totally rocks! She was able to make economics fun and interesting. So, when I got an invite to her end of the semester celebration I knew I HAD to make her something cool as a thank you for restoring my passion for academia present.

She's not just an Econ professor, she is also a BIG competitive sailor. So this is what I came up with. I embroidered the words Efficiency, Equity, and Liberty in signal flags. These are the 3 terms/concepts we used to analyze any number of policies.

I framed it in one of those pretty embroidery hoops.

Here's a Close up

My satin stitch could use a bit of work but over all I'm pleased and she LOVED it!
