11  Re: Thrift Store Purse Revamp Swap Round 1 *New Gallery* in The Swap Gallery by MadelBlue on: December 05, 2005 02:22:05 PM
I got my bag back from SparkleHorse today!! I'm sorry that this sets the bar so high future bag swaps can't even dream of obtaining results like these.... I took a bunch of pictures because I was SO EXCITED about the bag. If you dont want to look at all of my pics, tough- close your eyes  Tongue

I FREAKIN LOVE THE BAG!!! Honestly, If I saw it in a store I would pay way too much for it. I can't believe what SparkleHorse has done. It's perfect and I now have no need for any other purse. (Except the rad bag Alison made me for https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=58952.20)

This is the canvas mess that I sent to SparkleHorse (ugh why did I buy such a bag?)

And if you can believe it; This my friends is what came back to me:

The back:

The front in action:

But the fun doesnt stop there. Each pocket had something in it!!!
Soap, nail polish, my favorite gum, a candy cane and a cute lipstick holder with mirror.

SO I'm totally in love. But the real test is the cat stamp of approval:
"it smells good"

"it feels good"

"I'm afraid this bag now belongs to me, Gabey the cat"

So there she blows. This swap has been AWESOME. I LOVE MY BAG. Round 2's got a lot to live up to....

12  Gift for Boss-- Ribbon PhotoBoard in Winter Holidays by MadelBlue on: December 04, 2005 09:49:48 AM
So we've all seen these, I'm not that creative. But I am cheap and instead of paying $20 bucks I made my own version for about $5. These will be gifts for the last Holiday I spend with my lovely boss and favorite coworker.

This one looks crooked but it's not

You can hang the board on the wall or just prop it on your desk. You can slip photos and papers behind the ribbon.

Materials: 2 sheets of foam board *each board is cut in half and glued together for extra thickness*
             Cement Glue
2 yards of fabric (one for each there will be scrap)
Ribbon (wide to hold pics, thin to hang it from)
Buttons and thread (yes the buttons are sewn on-- it holds the ribbon in place

Seeing the amazing finished bags so far I feel totally inadequate.

AFTER: I feel bad because I didnt do much to the bag. It was just so simple and elegant that I didnt want to ruin it. I tried to keep with a 50's evening bag type feel.
I sewed silver ribbon to the strap to give it some jazz

Inside: needed slight glitterification

On the back I sewewd a black snap so SparkleHorse could add decorations to the bag based on her outfit. I made two for her:

And a Holiday flower theme:

Extras: a key ring and a mirror that I didnt make but I spifified

Mini notepad I made for those last minute notes/directions/phone numbers

I also sent a handmade stamped Alice in Wonderland card that I got from the talented GirlWonder in another swap. Grin
And just because I took a million pictures here is a picture of my lamp wearing the bag

OH. My. God. I just recieved from Alison and I'm blown away. Seriously like SHOCKED. EVerything is WONDERFUL, FABULOUS, TO DIE FOR. I am currently scampering around taking pictures, I will be back. *EDITED TO ADD PICTURES*

WARNING the following will cause extreme jealously. Proceed at your own risk

After being worthless and napping most of the day this awaited me on the door step, what could it be? But a package from Alison

Look how cute this felt cake is, I always love them when I see them around on craftster. Now I have my own, with "eat me" sewn in seed beads on the top: (It's so squishy-springy I can't stop poking it)

There is the adorably morbid bunny keychain (I think it's a shrinky dink) anyway its great:

And an assortment of cards/ envelopes on really nice cardstock with various images printed onto them. They are simply beautiful. I can't decide which is my favorite.

And my favorite: The raddest purse in the whole world (it has clear plastic handles):

I mean look at the lining:

My brother will be so jealous, we wonderful have a family joke about flame fabric

Part of the reason I love this adorable little bag so much is, it matches one of my own fluffykittyloveykins: (cat not included, his name is Pyro and he's mine all mine. He wanted to show how much he loves this bag because he matches)

I promptly dumped all the junk from my old purse to utilize my new one. I cant stop smiling over it.
And there you have it. This was my first swap and I got not one but TWO of the best swappers EVER. Thanks so much!! This was a blast and I cant wait to see more, considering most of the posts here are mine Smiley

Sick of my posts yet? Didn't think so. Here is the wonderful handmade goodies I recieved from GirlWonder.. Allow me to take you on a tour:
Here is the whole lovely array (cat head not included)

Handstamped Notecards with envelopes, 4 sheets of stamped line paper, two of the stamps she used:
(I think she made them) at any rate I've been wanting to buy rubber stamps but have been too cheap lately, these are BEAUTIFUL!!

And my favorite, two handpainted notecards which I have the perfect mat for and will be hanging on my wall pronto. They are so lovely the talented GirlWonder deserves a close up of these:

To top it all off she included a cute little note that despite saying "Hello kitty" was for me. Gabriel thought otherwise:

Personally I check the original thread for official updates and the gallery only for pics and comments on the projects-- Either way is fine though
*Edited to add:*

I got SparkleHorse's bag today and I am so jealous it's not mine. I love it and it was exactly like I pictured, I've already thought about what I'm going to do with it. It has a cute little jeweled snap
