I'm trying to make these:

And I can't seem to figure out what stitch she's using for the body of the shoe.  Doesn't seem to be single crochet.  Is it star stitch?

3  CANADA / Manitoba / Economy Textiles on Notre Dame on: March 11, 2010 04:57:14 PM
Has anyone been?  I heard they have fabric at a decent price but their website doesn't really explain their selection.

I'm wondering what kind of fabrics they have and what their prices are like compared to say...fabric land.

Thanks for the help!
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Stacked Coins quilt pattern? -- Yardage? on: March 02, 2010 01:17:46 PM

I am looking for an online pattern for a stacked coins quilt.  I want to make this for a friends wedding August 2011.

I am looking for something that makes a queen sized quilt.

I would prefer an online pattern to a magazine.

I am planning a trip to the US in a week to get fabric (JoAnn's!!) so I need an idea of yardage before I go.

Thanks for the help!
5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Asian Noodle (or Noodle-less) Salad! on: November 04, 2009 06:47:10 PM
I love this salad!  Love, Love, Love it!  I stumbled across it on the 'pioneer woman cooks' blog...but I made a few changes to make it a bit healthier.

If you want to check out the original version head on over here:  http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2008/03/my_most_favorite_salad_ever_ever_ever_ever/

1/2 sliced Napa cabbage
1/2 package shredded cabbage (cole slaw mix)
1/2 red bell pepper, sliced thin
1/2 yellow bell pepper, sliced thin
1 small bag bean sprouts (also called “mung bean sprouts”)
3 sliced scallions
1/2 english cucumber cut in strips
1 big handful baby spinach leaves, washed
LOTS of chopped cilantro—up to one bunch

Juice of 1 lime
4 tbsp olive oil
2 tsps sesame oil
8 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons fresh ginger, chopped
2 cloves chopped garlic
2 hot peppers or jalapenos, chopped  ( use these if I have them...if not, I use a healthy squirt of sriracha hot sauce)
More chopped cilantro—LOTS...about 1/4 cup

Mix together salad ingredients. Whisk together dressing ingredients and pour over salad. Mix with tongs or hands and serve on platter.
*Dressing keeps up to three days before serving, WITHOUT cilantro.

**The above recipe has been modified from the original on the pioneer women's website.  I leave out the noodles (hence the decreased amount of dressing)...I am doing this because I am doing weight watchers and this means less points.

I will also add cooked shrimp, crab flavoured pollack, and or pounded and grilled chicken to this for dinner.  If I am doing the chicken...I pound a chicken breast flatt....and I make and extra bit dressing to marinade the chicken before grilling.  Grill 4 mins per side, slice and serve over salad!

Maybe 3 or 4 matching ornaments?  In your partners Christmas colours?

A good swap for people that maybe use non-traditional Christmas colours... (I use chocolate brown and silver).
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Looking for a post....tank top under a skirt? on: July 25, 2009 05:37:45 PM
There was a post on here...SOMEWHERE...I can't for the life of me find it now...

It was a dress someone made from an existing white racerback tank top and a high-waisted skirt.  There was a tutorial for the skirt I believe....

I want to try making one but can't find the post anywhere.....anyone?
9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / The Macro Garden (pic heavy) on: June 02, 2009 11:55:36 AM
My boyfriend bought me a new camera for my birthday and I've been itching to try some shots.  My condo doesn't make for very interesting media...so I stepped outside to the garden.

10  COOKING / Dessert / Worlds Most Dangerous Chocolate Cake on: May 28, 2009 06:34:58 PM
Here it is.  One serving of moist, dense chocolaty chocolate cake anytime you want!  That's why it's so dangerous!

4tbsp flour
4tbsp granulated sugar
2tbsp cocoa powder
2tbsp chocolate chips

Stir to combine in a large coffee mug.

One Egg
3tbsp milk
3tbsp oil

Stir well

Microwave 3 mins on high power (1000 watt microwave)

loosen from mug with vigorous shaking......or a knife around the edge.

VOILA!!!!  Cake!

Enough for two!  Or just for you!
