101  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting lingo help! on: April 26, 2004 05:14:56 PM
Okay, I'm working on a sock, doing the heel decrease (I've made the heel flap, haven't picked up for the gusset yet). The directions tell me to SSPO. Okay, I assume P = purl, SS = slip two stitches...wtf is O? do I yarn over? or what?

tia, I'm hoping to get the sock done tonite.

102  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re:*mini* fuzzyfeet??? on: April 20, 2004 05:16:28 PM
I thought about giving the 'socks' to my coworker so she can fit them to her son's feet, but she is HORRIBLY, ineptly disbelieving in all things crafty, and she wouldn't do it.

I've found a kids' sock pattern, I'm knitting those up now and if they are the correct size I will use that as a blueprint for the fuzzyfeet.

Thanks for all the feedback!

I'm working on an adult-sized pair of fuzzyfeet from http://www.knitty.com (the winter 02 issue, I think), and one of my co-workers wants a pair for her son. Who is 3. Any ideas on how to adapt the pattern for little feet? I'm sure I'll have to change needle sizes...

104  California / California: South / LYS in Anaheim on: April 13, 2004 05:45:45 PM
I just found my *most* LYS about 2 blocks from my house (!). They're called The Knitty Gritty, on Anaheim Blvd. and Lincoln, across from the Vons shopping center.

They're small but have IMHO a very good selection of yarns, especially since I've been stuck with Tall Mouse/Michaels! Very friendly, too.

They have a website, http://www.theknittygritty.com that lists their hours and drop-in class times.

Patronize them, please! They're great. Oh, and once you spend $200, you get 10% off your next order. My first visit I spent $60 so I'm almost there LOL

105  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re:Projects from Weekend Knitting by Melanie Falick on: April 01, 2004 03:22:03 PM
I'm making the Knitted Lace pillowcases for my friend's wedding.

A friend of mine has a silkscreening company, and he's being sued by Volkswagen, because one of his shirts has an image from "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" on it (with Spicolli and his friends spilling out of their van), and on the graphic you can see the VW logo.

Sounds bunk, but I'm sure Marvel would come after anyone who co-opted one of their characters.

107  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re:fish tails cat bed on: February 18, 2004 05:52:35 PM
Oooooh! I think McCalls makes a pattern for that fish. I'd make it, too, but my cat would be...um, afraid of it LOL

108  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re:Ugly prison walls on: February 18, 2004 01:58:58 PM
You can use liquid starch to "wallpaper" your walls with fabric. It just peels off when you move (wipe down the walls, no one knows...LOL)

Apparently this technique is used a lot in military housing.

Good luck!

I'd be interested, unless you're talking LA area. I'm in North OC. Hopefully we get some more posters!

I just picked knitting up again last year; I used to knit in JHS/HS (*years* ago now LOL), and I learned to crochet from a client's mom last year.
