11  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Fibertrends Huggable Hedgehog! More Hedgies on page 3 :) on: June 10, 2006 02:20:19 PM
Here's my new blue hedgie!  He is going to be sent off to my sister since she thought he was cute Smiley  This shows you a little more of how round he realy is supposed to be.  This time I didn't run out of yarn, and I used a more appropriate yarn for his back (Lion Brand Fun fur).  I think it worked a lot better than the Disco, since that kinda afro'd up and tangled on itself...

Ok, so I have never liked "fun fur" but right now I have the urge to go out and buy some in every color of the rainbow...

Only because I just finished this sweet little guy from Fiber Trends pattern 228x.   It arrived in the mail yesterday afternoon, and I just finished him moments ago!  I used some Patons Classic Merino wool, (in natural mix and chestnut) and the ball of Bernat DISCO that I got free from that free offer way back when (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=50284.0)...

Here he is basking in the sun, he kind of looks like he's smiling from the lighting out there, but the only facial embellishments were the safety eyes and his nose, which is needle felted on.  He is about the size of a soccer ball, so he's quite large and round!

The pattern is SO AWESOME.  All of his shaping is done by short rows, which I had never done before this pattern, and now I am an expert!  It was quite easy.  There's not a single purl stitch in the whole pattern, and there is only a few inches of seaming.

The only bits of advice I have when you start the pattern, is to have the reccommended yardage that the pattern calls for, I ran out of Disco about 2/3 down his back, so he has a plain chestnut colored bootie Sad  Also, there is counting involved (esp. with the back part) so it is very hard to do when someone is trying to talk to you...

I fulled him by hand, and I probably could have done it a bit more, but he holds his shape quite nicely so far.  I've already got the front done for another one, but I have to go out and buy me some novelty yarn before I can finish him up... I never thought I'd be saying that!

Has anyone else made this pattern?  I would love to see other hedgehogs!

Also, anyone have any suggestions for other animals I could adapt this guy into?  It's just so fun and cute I want to knit this over and over!

Oh, here's what he looked like right after fulling, he is being blocked by plastic bags:

Here's a link to the Fibertrends website: http://fibertrends.com/ and I bought my pattern at Webs www.yarn.com
12  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Cute stuffed Chihuahua (from Japanese Craft Book) on: May 31, 2006 04:17:25 PM
This pattern is from the same pattern (from a Japanese craft book) as the cute little chihuahuas in this post: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=72708.0;topicseen  (Not done by me, but SUPER CUTE)

While those are only a few inches high, I adjusted the pattern so this chihuahua is more life-sized.

He got some chihuahua training from my chubby Rufus before being sent to my swap partner.  Oh, and it was supposed to look like her puppy, Bullet, who you can see here: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a153/hertrigger/DSCN2119.jpg
13  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My 1st Sock Monkey -- Pink and Black striped knee socks on: May 31, 2006 03:55:14 PM
I made this guy for the Secret Friend of Craftster swap.  He was hard to send off because I really liked how he turned out!

Here he is soaking up the sun before he left Las Vegas  Grin
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Katja top from Knitty Spring Surprises (Modified) on: May 31, 2006 03:38:59 PM
I know a lot of people didn't like this top from the Knitty Spring Surprises, but I thought it was really cute when I first saw it, even though I knew I would have to change it a bit.

I changed the straps to be a cross-back that snapped, rather than the I-cord ties, just to make it a bit safer.  I knitted it in the round, and forgot to adjust the pattern to take out the seam allowance stitches (oops!).  I also did a picot bind off, because I wanted to try something new, and I think it is cute!

I knitted it in the 24 month size, my daughter is 17 months so it is big on her, I added some elastic to the back to gather it up a bit, she will be able to wear this for quite some time, maybe even next summer as well, since the straps can be adjustable.

Hey all we need an angel for Lasandri for the Ongoing Wish Swap 8 her package unfortunately never made it to her:

Her Wish is:

A little sewn case for my umbrella. I lost the case and the little loop hangy thingee broke off so I end up holding it in hand and I'm scared I'll leave it in the bus.I was hoping for a little case that matches it (a case with a loop), like one with little clouds, or something like that. Here is a pic of my umbrella and the dimensions:

Thanks all!  Please reply here and PM me if you would like to be an angel!

Anyone watching this thread who thinks they might be interested in participating at a later time is very, VERY welcome to pm me answering the swap questions now...and then you can participate whenever you want.  Please try to have a list prepared BEFORE you start swapping, it makes things much easier!

If you want to participate, here is the information to send to organizer:

Name of swap: Wish Swap Round 8
Craftster username:
Email address:
Your real name:
Mailing address:
Have you read the Swap Guidelines and understand how this swap works?

VERY IMPORTANT: Remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

How This Swap Works
Please READ CAREFULLY! This is a pretty new style of swap, and it works
differently than most.

The first person puts a list together of all the things they could
imagine wanting that they cant make. YOU CAN HAVE AS MANY ITEMS ON YOUR

Then people will read that list, and see if they see something they want to/can make on there. Someone replies to the thread and say I claim Suzie and Im going to make her a pink scarf" or whichever wish they are fulfilling.  When they reply, they will also say "This is my first wish" or "this is my third wish, but the first one has been recieved" They would PM Suzie to get her info to mail it.

Then comes the fun part!  You get to post your list of wishes!
(Please have your wish ready, this swap moves very quickly!  Please include your country at the start of your wishlist)
Then someone picks you and fulfills ONE of your wishes.
Then they post their list, and so on.

Friends of Craftster are allowed 3 wishes at one time, others are allowed 2 wishes.  Do not choose over your given limit.  Become a friend of craftster, go here https://www.craftster.org/subscribe.phphttps://www.craftster.org/subscribe.php

If you are at your limit, you can choose again once one of your partners recieves, NOT when you send.

***Please remember the last person who posted their list is up for grabs***

Now if the thread gets in a rut for a few days/hours, the person who made the last wish should add to their list if they can think of anything else, until someone decides to craft for them.

***Do not claim someone unless you can fulfill that wish to a high calibur***

Let's keep the quiality high here.  During the last round I got a few PMs with people concerned with the lack of quality of their items.  Please, just work your hardest to keep the bar high on the quality of items here!  Don't choose just for the sake of choosing, choose to make someone else a really AWESOME wish!

Please be communicative if you are having any issues. If you communicate you still need to send your item in a timely manner.  Communication does not mean you can send as late as you want. One week past deadline you will have negative feedback, this is only temporary, it will be changed back once you fulfill your obligation for late item(s).  Do not choose to craft for someone if you do not think you can meet these deadlines.

- Don't forget to get a DC NUMBER when shipping in your own country!  This will be recorded in your feedback and is VERY IMPORTANT.
- Please communicate when you send and recieve, or if you are going to be late.  Poor communication will be recorded in your feedback.
- PM me when sending, note the # of the wish you are sending, as well as if it is in or out of country, and your DC# if there is one.
