13  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Subversive Cross Stitch... with squirrels! on: May 06, 2007 02:32:09 PM
This is my first cross stitching attempt, and it felt like it took forever!  I  used a design from the Subversive Cross Stitch book by Julie Jackson.  I think I chose the tamest design in there  Grin.

There is more info on my blog, if you're interested Smiley
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: new mag: yarn forward on: May 05, 2007 09:20:45 PM
Has anyone recieved their second issue yet?  Looks like they took down the Blog area on the Yarn Forward website, but it says that the issue got sent out around April 18th.

I'm assuming atleast you gals in the UK would have your issues now?  How does it look?

If anyone is interested I posted a tutorial on how to make headbands using the elastic hairbands a couple years ago.

It was one of my first posts but it's got a picture tutorial, you can find it in this post:

16  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Backyard Critters (Knit Amigurumi) Owl, Opossum & Deer on: May 03, 2007 01:18:09 PM

I just finished my extra big critters!  I didn't change the pattern at all, just the yarn and needle sizes.  You can see more pictures and the yardage and yarn info on my Blog if you're interested!

Once again, thanks for such a cute pattern, CraftyAlien!
17  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Finished Backyard Critters, from CraftyAlien--Owl, Fox, Skunk, Raccoon! on: May 03, 2007 01:15:18 PM

I just finished up my two bigger guys!  You can check out my blog entry from today if you're interested on how I made them.

I really like how they turned out (except the big one was a PITA to felt).  I think upping the size makes them that much more cuddly!

It looks great!  I love it how you altered the pattern to make it your own, and I love the color of that cotton!  I am so glad that you found the pattern easy to understand.

I hope we do get to see an action shot!

I had a look at the pattern on your site -- is there something that goes inside the brim to stiffen it?  I only get to a city on rare occasion, so would like to know if there's anything other than the yarn required for this project.

Nope, there's no insert for the brim.  It's knit at a smaller gauge and that, combined with the double thickness created by the short row technique it holds shape really well!
