271  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: this bag is gaudy... but still fun, how do i improve it? on: July 25, 2005 08:51:32 AM
I agree.  I think that bag is awesome how it is.

To tone it down, I would probably try to cut the picture off of the bag and sew it onto another bag that is a color that accents the picture.

good luck!

276  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: tweed ballet flats using iheartohmy's tute! on: July 21, 2005 06:18:33 AM
I've never made shoes so really, I have nooo clue, but I was thinking maybe you could somehow have some of those really nice cushy gel soles in there, like, in between the layer of fabric and the sole fabric. I'm sure somebody could figure it out! (not me..) I put some of those gel soles in my work shoes and voila! No more sore back after a hard day on my feet making smoothies at work Smiley

Anybody know if this is feasible?

I was thinking you could use headliner fabric found at JoAnn's in the home dec dept. (I used to work there)  it's used to line the roof of your car and it's cushy.  a lot of people bought it to make their own insoles.  it's like $10 a yard, but you would only need 1/3 and you would get many pairs out of it b/c its about 54" wide.  i would sandwich it in between the pieces of fabric or even just use it as the bottom lining since its fabric coated.  i'm definately going to try this soon.  i'll post when i'm done and let you know how it turned out!
277  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: butterfly top: with v-neck tutorial *lots of images* on: July 21, 2005 05:32:19 AM
your tutorial is so great!  i took an old t shirt and added a v-neck to it using your instructions, and it was soo easy!  do you have any tips on doing sleeves?  i always have trouble with sleeves, especially with non-stretchy material.
