21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Sewing felt patches to stretch jeans? on: April 24, 2006 08:55:28 AM
So I finally found The One Pair Of Skinny Jeans That Make Me Look Sexy - but I can't just wear them like that, I'm a crafter!  My plan is to sew flat felt flowers in rainbow colours down the legs to confuse people when they try to work out whether I'm hippy or emo...

I'm hand-sewing this as I'm not that confident with my sewing machine!  (I'd use fusible webbing but the only stuff we have in my house is about 20 years old and really doesn't work any more, and I have no money to buy more)

My question is:  What stitch should I use to sew the felt flower-shapes to the (stretch) denim?  What looks pretty?

I found these in a livejournal community I frequent:

23  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Seed bead eyelashes? on: April 06, 2006 01:21:58 AM
So, I was watching My Parents are Aliens yesterday...

So, I was watching some perfectly reputable grown-up program yesterday, and somebody on it had quite a cool thing where she had one seed-bead strung onto an eyelash, about five times around each lid.  Has anyone ever tried it? It looks awesome.  Could you do this just with mascara on, or would you need fakes and lots and lots of glue?
24  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 10 ENTRIES / The second star to the right... ***NOW WITH BEADED LACES*** on: April 03, 2006 08:32:07 AM
So... I've had these plain white converses sitting around in my "To Do" basket forever and a day.  Problem is: I don't have any fabric paints.  I forget about them, and they gather dust (probably).

Then two wonderful things happen at once:  My brother brings home flourescent fabric pens from a mate at uni, and I see the new Craftster challenge!  The ideas fuse together in my brain, so I settle down with my bootleg copy of Brokeback Mountain, a packet of chocolate digestives and my shoe-painting supplies, and I get going!

Sorry for the sub-par pictures, I did something terrible to my web-cam in a previous life, clearly.

What do you think?  I'm debating whether or not to do something interesting to the laces.  What would look cool?
25  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Mother's Day - Vaguely Professional-Looking Card on: March 25, 2006 07:54:49 AM
This is the first time I've done something I've really liked using foam pads to raise bit of things.  In fact, I think this is the first card I've ever made that doesn't look like it's been made by a seven-year-old...

Hurrah for mother's day!  What think ye?
26  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitted belt? You crazy wench! on: March 25, 2006 07:42:43 AM
So I had this lovely weird sort of natural-looking yarn, which looked quite nice with some pink stuff I had lying around.  I started knitting, and this is what happened:

(please excuse my stomach)

The pink bits look good either way 'round, so I guess it's reversible.

Problem is... I don't actually wear neutral-ey colours with pastels.  Like... ever.  (I'm more of a psychadelic rainbow sort of person - don't worry, I'm sure I'll grow out of it Wink)  Plus, I don't think it could hold up my terminally-falling-down jeans.  What should I do with it?  Is anyone interested in swapping with me?
27  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / SHOEBOX_PROJECT Swap? on: March 11, 2006 12:52:28 PM
This thread has nothing to do with shoeboxes.

If anyone is a fan of The Shoebox Project (which is a Harry Potter-based mixed media project by ladyjaida and dorkorific, the two most wonderful people on earth), would you be interested in this swap?  (Has this already been done?)

I missed out on the Giftbox Project because it was really, really secret  Embarrassed but I still think SBP crafts would be great fun to make!  What say ye?

I repeat: this thread has nothing to do with shoeboxes.

Nothing whatsoever.
28  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Lovers? on: February 22, 2006 11:58:31 AM
For an ATC I'm working on (on the theme of "chance", from Nushybum's ATC-along), I really want to add a fairly vertical picture of intertwined lovers.  Problem is, my idea of the human form is fairly... sketchy (which is odd, given that I have one...) and I always run into problems when trying to draw this kind of thing.  Does anyone have any pictures I could use for reference?
29  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Something to do with 100g of fuschia Double Knitting? on: February 16, 2006 05:20:08 AM
I wandered down to "Knitter's Corner", the yarn shop in my town, and saw some lovely, bright pink double knitting yarn for only 1.30.  Thinking of a friend whose birthday is coming up soon, I bought it immediately.

Only problem... I don't actually have a pattern.  Or a clue as to what to make for her.

Does anyone have any links to patterns that I could use, or ideas for things I could make?

(I'm such a dunce  Wink)
30  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / How much do you pay for advertising? on: February 09, 2006 09:36:31 AM
I was thinking of adding adverts from small crafty businesses to my craft-related comic in order to make a bit of money to fuel my bead obsession to buy books and so forth.  For school. *cough*

According to my logs, I get about 50 visitors per day, average (which is surprising, actually.  I didn't realise I had that many readers.  Possibly I'm mistaken about this, but the only other number on the chart that it could be is 934, and that just can't be right...)  This number gets bigger every time I check, and I'm still fairly new so it will probably continue to do so as I keep on pimping myself left, right and centre.

What monthly rate would be appropriate to charge for a banner on each page?  I was thinking of something like $6 per month - is this reasonable?
