1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitted Nibbler on: January 26, 2010 02:30:55 PM
Here he is in all his glory, Nibbler!

You might be wondering why he is on the toilet. Well, if you flip him upside down...

He keeps your toilet paper safe. I can't take credit for the pattern, but here is a link to it (really easy to follow, knit up pretty quickly too!) So a huge thanks to Elizabeth Jarvis for making and posting the pattern on ravelry.

My only mistake was showing my friends. Now everyone wants one! I'm actually working on another one right now. Smiley
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / My newest addiction (perler beads) on: December 17, 2009 04:28:26 AM
After stumbling across a few perler bead projects here, I decided to give it a try myself. Its addicting! I decided to make some magnets for my friends for Christmas.

My favorite, from Yoshi's island. I had a hard time giving him away... I wanted to keep him! I used clear beads to make sure his tail and hair wouldn't get broken.

One of my first projects.

Pokemon Gym Badges

Dory and Nemo (not too happy with how Nemo turned out...)

Better shot of Dory Smiley

Final Fantasy dudes

Gir in his dog suit

Mudkip. (Not sure why this picture is yellowish? Weird lighting!)

Thanks for looking!
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Yip yip yip yip uh huh uh huh (Yip Yip aliens) on: November 01, 2009 12:59:04 PM
This is my first entry, I hope I do this right! I found the idea for this while googling costumes, and it came up on instructables.com It was perfect for me and my boyfriend! I'm not much of a seamstress, so this was a big project for me. Ok, enough blabbing, onto pics!

One Halloween night, visitors from Mars arrived at my door....

Confused by their surroundings, they checked their Earth Book.

"Book book book book... Ooooh, Halloween."

They seemed very interested in my dog. "Dog? Woof! Woof!"

This was my picture inspiration:

Replicating the picture...

Eating chips...

And here's a video of my boyfriend eating the chips so you can see the mouth movement of the costume.

Thanks for looking! Any questions or comments are more then welcomed Cheesy
4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Ceramic tiles? on: August 30, 2009 07:21:21 PM
My parents are renovating the kitchen, and all our old ceramic floor tiles are being replaced. Some are intact, some are broken. Any ideas what I could do with these? Preferably something that involves me smashing them (I hated those darn tiles!)

The tiles are white with light gray pattern on them, they are very porous. I don't know much about ceramic tiles, I was thinking mosaic something but wasn't sure if I could paint them different colors? Thanks Smiley
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / First sweater ideas? on: July 12, 2009 07:01:15 PM
I think I am ready to give it a try and knit my first sweater. Anyone have any suggestions for patterns? It would have to be fairly simple... Also, my yarn stash is limited to Micheal's, so if anyone would have link to nice yarn stores online I would appreciate it. Thanks! Smiley
6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Kids Carnival games (img heavy and sorta tut) on: June 16, 2009 05:47:18 PM
I work for my local SPCA, and we have an annual fundraiser in the park. This year, we decided to add on a kids carnival. I jumped at the chance to help out with this. Boy was I in over my head. I had to think up games, design and make them. Here's what I came up with. (PS: Mods, I think this is where it goes! Sorry if it isn't!)

Have your wonderful dad cut out a circle

Paint a target pattern

Re-paint the target and touch it up. Then I took some dirt and split peas, put them in a poop bag and voila! You have the poop bag toss game.

2nd game was Find the Golden bone...

My coworker's dad is a genius and came up with this. They even stacked for easy travel!

Painted some milkbones (I forgot to take a picture of the golden one... it was full of sparkles.)

3rd game was collar toss.

Painted, added some hooks and voila!

This happened the night before when I was testing it out... But luckily, it was fixed by nailing another piece of wood to the back.

And my favorite, Bean bag toss....
Faces drawn on by a friend

Cut out the mouths

Painted and added foam teeth to the rabbit and a felt tongue for the dog...

Made the bean bags out of felt and filled with split peas.

Bones for the dogs.

Cats get  the fish.

Rabbit gets the carrots.

Side view with the paw prints (all the games had this on the legs)

And a shout out to my little helper, Lola.

Thanks for looking!
7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / He was made for loving you. on: May 17, 2009 11:34:21 AM
My boyfriend is a huge KISS fan, and after making my first Mr Dangly, he hinted I should make something for him. So, I made a Paul Stanley inspired Dangly. He loved it! I still have to make him chest hair, however (the toy, not my boyfriend...)

You can see his star over the eye better in this picture...

And for the original Mr Dangly (not my pattern!) please click here
8  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Pysanky dye questions (total noob) on: March 25, 2009 06:59:48 PM
So after seeing all the wonderful pysanky on here, I decided to order myself a kit and try it myself! But I have kind of a silly question... Can I store the dyes? I can't imagine being able to create more then a couple of eggs in one sitting. In other words...

Once I have the dyes mixed and used, can I store them and reuse them? If so how, and for how long?

Or would it be easier to only do it one color at a time (for example all the yellow in one day, another color the next day, etc?) Thanks in advance. Smiley
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first non square knit. on: February 17, 2009 06:31:13 PM
I only have learned how to increase this last month... and when I saw a pattern on here for Mr Dangly, I really wanted to try it! Its my first toy as well as non square or rectangle knit. She said her name is Vespa...

She is being shy at the moment, but I am sure that will not last Wink
