5  Junk Bracelet - Using broken and vintage pieces in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by brokendove on: May 30, 2008 04:59:41 AM

Here is my attempt at a junk bracelet using recycled jewelry pieces, I seem to have an overwhelming amount of broken pieces so there is sure to be a few more in the making.

I have added the basic tutorial on my site, but of course you use what you have so everyone is original which is what I love.

I am still debating adding some more to it .. what you think room for more???

6  Pimped Water Bottle Baby Rattle in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by brokendove on: May 30, 2008 04:40:52 AM
I have a 8mth old who get's bored with her toys so quickly, that I have begun making them.

Here is a pimped up water bottle that she chases around the floor.

The tutorial that is on my site has got a few negative comments but I am sure this bottle is safe and lot's of fun...

I am racking my brain at some new ideas for new toys as she grows.

7  My 1st Altered Art & Resin - Tutorial Link in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by brokendove on: March 27, 2008 12:42:00 AM

I have been busy with resin  and put together this tutorial for my website.

there are more pictures, though u dont really need them if you are familiar with resin

Start by selecting a suitable background image, for this project we printed some green vines onto some computer paper.

Cut your paper background out to fit into the altered art pendant frame. Glue the image to the frame using some white craft glue, give the front of
the image a coat of glue at the same time and this will act as a sealer so that the ink does not run.

Once the glue has completely dried it's time to layout your cogs and watch workings. You can buy altered art watch workings from the link below, but alternatively for smaller projects you could recycle an old broken watch by taking it apart.

Once you are happy with the layout, pour a small amount of resin onto the top of the pendant, allow it to settle into the corners before blowing out any air bubbles with a straw.

Once it has set add a chain, ribbon or beads for a beautiful modern altered art pendant.

8  Revamped Advertising Tote -Retro Album Cover in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by brokendove on: January 16, 2008 09:54:17 PM

This Retro LP Record Album Tote has been made using a recycled advertising tote. You know the ones you get free when you buy something over a certain value rather than a paper or plastic bag...

well the advantages of using a recycled tote, is not only the environment but it also means you can avoid sewing which makes it a perfect "No sew" project for kids and the lazy ones... (yep thats me Smiley

I visited a lifeline book fest and couldn't resist going through the piles of records, and this cover (along with a few more I have ideas for) jumped out at me. I love the flower theme.

I was going to embellish it, but it just looked too femininely crafty if that makes sense, so I went with this "al a retro chic look"

I have uploaded more pictures and a tutorial (if ya need it) on my website.

9  Ball Of Life - Gag Gift in Winter Holidays by brokendove on: November 16, 2007 01:19:17 PM

I was not sure where this should go, but as it's a great christmas present I thought I would post it here.

It's called "Ball OF Life"  We have been busy making these for a fund raiser

You attach the poem to a tennis ball

---The Ball Of Life----

Suffering from stress: Fondle it constantly.

Need to relieve your anger: Throw it at someone.

Short of a massage: Roll it around the bottom of your feet.

Lack of communication in your life: Tell it your inner most secrets.

Short of a good friend: Paint a smiley face on it.

Needing some unconditional love: Throw it at a wall, it will always come back to you.

Want to be less selfish: Lend it to someone when your not using it.

Want to be aware of others, want to become more thoughtful: Look after your ball, try to understand how it feels to be kicked about, stood on and given away and abused.

Want to be less judgmental: Be happy with this gift, it's the thought that counts not the cost.

Here it is posted on my website
