1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / decoupaged card for a rainy day on: October 15, 2005 08:51:34 PM
I was inspired to make this card after it rained for 5 consecutive days here, and I spent the entire week cold and wet.  The cloud is made of felt with sequins and beads.  (It's a little hard to make out the beading at the bottom of the cloud because I used clear, long beads with a subtle sheen.  But trust me, they're there, and they show up better in person!)  I wrote "keep warm and dry!" at the top of the card.  I'm sending it to my friend in Oregon since the rainy season is just starting there.

Did I mention that the sun came out today right after I finished this project?  As proof, I'm including a sunny photo.   Smiley

2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / matching "I heart" t-shirts on: July 18, 2005 09:17:59 PM
Cheesy, I know, but my good friend got married last summer and I made her and her finace matching t-shirts that say "I heart" with each of their faces stenciled in place.  I gave the shirts to them as shower gifts, and they both wore them to the brunch they threw for their out-of-town guests the day after their wedding.

The quality of the pics below isn't so hot, but I have to admit that the shirts were a big hit with friends and family (especially the mothers of the bride and groom).  There's nothing like a little kitschy irony to bring out the nerd in all of us!  But be forewarned: seeing as the cheese factor here is virtually off the map, don't expect these gifts to be worn anytime after the honeymoon.   Wink

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / shrinky dink choker on: July 18, 2005 08:43:21 PM
This is a stamped shrinky dink pendant hung on a simple string of beads, fastened with a clasp in back.  I was going for minimalist look with this piece...    Cool

4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / sock monkey quilt top on: July 18, 2005 08:30:44 PM
This is a top I pieced together for a crib quilt for my friends' new baby.  The theme is sock monkeys (good and unisex!).  I used a variety of fabrics from the same collection.  If you look closely, you'll see that some have polka dots, some have bananas, and some have stripes.  The border has the monkeys' yearbook headshots, and the backing-to-be (the chartreuse fabric) has flying monkeys!  Very busy and colorful--good visual stimuli for a newborn, they say.

Granted, this isn't a "finished project" since it still needs to be quilted together, but I thought I'd share anyway...   Smiley
