21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Dios De Los Muertos Swap! Sign ups Sept 25- Oct 3! Send outs Oct 27!! on: October 01, 2007 05:31:02 AM

22  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Zimmerman KAL?? on: September 29, 2007 08:14:44 AM
I cast on for the baby surprise jacket last night and i'm almost done with the decreases (this things moves at warp speed!) I was a bit hesitant at first with the very vague recipe but i kept telling myself "in zimmerman trust" she really knew her stuff, after looking at the notes links I found i was on the right track and was relieved at not having to rip back a few rows just to fix things.

I also started working on the garter stitch blanket out of the opinionated knitter too and I am digging how quick that is moving along as well.

In other wonderful news, my copy of the opinionated knitter FINALLY got here, so now i'm going to rip into the baby surprise jacket this week, I can't wait!!

I'm game! I just ordered the opinionated knitter last night after spending two hours drooling over all of those baby surprise jackets!

For now I have Knitting without tears so i'll be working on the tomten jacket (a practice one) in a sturdy washable acrylic. If I had any superwash wool handy it'd be my first choice, cause i'm all about the care convenience!

I love everybody's tattoos!! they're all so beautiful!

I have two tattoos so far and i'm looking to get eventually sleeved on my arms and my legs and have almost full coverage on my back (sans bum)

My first tattoo:

the word is Carus which latin for Beloved. It's a tribute/memorial/dedication tattoo for (don't laugh) my cockatiel. We're going on 7 years strong and he's like my child rather than my pet. I'll probably get a similar one for my second cockatiel, it won't be a heart but more along the lines with her name and birthday (Slurpee born on 7-11 total fluke that was) which is our favorite story to tell about her.

my second:

More latin,Carpe Diem means Seize the Day. im not really sure of my obsession with Latin but I think it's got alot to do with my love of languages. it's an ambigram in old english by John Langdon i borrowed from the internet. It's a really party trick and when i go to the bar drunks are constantly making me lift my arm (or helping me) and lowering it so they can see that it's reversible. It will probably be a key piece in my left arm sleeve which will be dedicated to my love of books and writing and stories in general.

and then this thursday I'll be getting the lines done on my right arm for my 3/4 sleeve of hibiscus, roses and cherry blossoms. I haven't yet seen the final line drawing so I'm counting the days. I'm so nervous but excited at the same time.

29  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Re: Weaving Wednesday? on: February 16, 2007 10:03:41 PM
Schweet! I just warped my first loom and wove a scarf in about 4 hours this afternoon right after work. I can say, I'm definitely loving it as it's cheaper than knitting, I used maybe a ball and a half of yarn. I'll post it on Wednesday!

Sort of like the spinning board has fiber friday, maybe we could do a weaving day where everyone shows what they're up to?
