1  Re: Questions About Hairstyles! in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by Alena on: June 27, 2007 09:56:41 PM
Ok, well...I work in an Aveda hair salon, as a receptionist...which means...cheap haircut and color! Woo! Sad thing is...I don't know what to do with it. It's boring, brown with lighter highlights...I am trying to grow it out, but it is just rather blah and I need a change. Any ideas?

This is me right now, after blowdry and blowdry only:

And then this is me sorta styled:

I JUST started working at a hair salon...as receptionist, but either way, I want to take advantage of this employee benefit of cheap, professional hair alteration. But...I want something different, color-wise. I've never had highlights, always had varying shades of dark brown. I'm thinking something real light. Dunno. Any thoughts?

This is me:

And, uhh...I have to put up my picture with Colin Meloy of the Decemberists.

3  Woo, Wal-mart, Rose, and three hours! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Alena on: November 04, 2006 09:40:18 PM
Well, today my friend Rose and I decided to "build". But for this, we needed nails. So off to handy Wal-mart we went. However...in the midst of the "Nail Section" we came across some lovely upholstery nails...

And this came out:

It is my new homework desk! Sure, I'll need a notebook to write on...but if I get bored, I can lay my head down and take a nap! Haha.

And, uhhh...first "upholstery" job ever, I think it came out alright. At least my elbows won't hurt after writing bunches of essays.

Haha, I'm not so sure about this. Spare wood, used to test out a drill? Pencil holder? Same thing, right?

Anyway, I need to do something with the boring, unfinished wood, but I'm not sure what. Any ideas? Might just paint it black, who knows. Oh, and soon there will be a chair to match!

Okkkk, big question.

Anyone wanna help me learn about dreads?
I'd LOVE to have them, much to the chagrin of my boyfriend. Buuut, my hair is rather short.

That short in fact. (Ignore my Fresca-pimping, please.)
Should I wait until it's longer? I'd assume so, but how long would you suggest? Any information would be helpful, even if it was just pointing me to a good website.

5  Re: sweater boots! in Shoes: Completed Projects by Alena on: December 30, 2005 07:47:41 PM
So, I have these...Sandals Cheesy And I like the wedgy look of them, and I don't really like them haha, they need a new look.  How do you suggest going about doing this?  Here's some pics of them if it helps.

Maybe, I could sew it to the actual like flat of the shoes like, the black part that's all squishy Tongue  Also, would you suggest cutting off the strappy things?

I used some shoes JUST like those for mine...I cheated and used teeny-tiny adorable white nails and hammered 'em in. It added interest to the shoe, as well as making them muuuuuch easier to make. Cheesy
