1  Re: Cozy Toes for Christmas Swap Gallery (Send 12/10) in The Swap Gallery by Powerhouseofthecell on: December 18, 2019 06:20:56 AM
Those slippers and llama socks are the best!

craftADDchick sent me the most fantastic gifts.

First, THREE pairs of fuzzy socks!  We live in a drafty old farmhouse and my feet are always cold.  These are perfect.

Next, a lovely calming candle and toffee fudge hot chocolate mix.  I need this kind of comfort during finals week of a very brutal semester.

And now for her crafty handiwork.  Look at these delicate little snowflakes!  They are so lovely.  We have always had a giant tree;  It's 15' this year.  My children have broken a lot of glass ornaments over the years and we are running low.  When a glass ornament hits the wood floor from 10 feet up it doesn't stand a chance.  These will look lovely on our sparse tree.

And lost but not least, (drum roll please) a glitter-encrusted dinosaur ornament!!!!  It's like craftADDchick looked inside my nerdy, tacky brain and just knew I *needed* this in my life!

Thank you for everything!  I love it all.

2  Punny Wind Turbine TM patch in Needlework: Completed Projects by Powerhouseofthecell on: December 14, 2019 04:31:47 PM

I made this for a swap.  I didnt have time to stitch the words, so I wrote them on clear shrinky dinks and painted the back with nail polish.  It was so easy!  Im definitely using that trick in the future.

My partner, craftADDchick received a few days ago, but shes been under the weather and pretty busy in real life, so Im going to post pictures for her.  I hope she doesnt mind.

Here is the message she sent me:

Its an amazing little package!

The slippers are fabulous! I love how you were able to use the purple to make the trees- so very clever!

The TM patches are outstanding- I love that you made them with a personal connection, and that you were able to fit an entire Rube Goldberg design on 1 patch. And, the ornament is perfect (and made from a canning lid- how appropriate!).

I don't have good light to take photos tonight, but I'll try tomorrow. I'm working on your item right now...

Thanks for being such a fantastic partner! And, thanks, Inselaeffchen, for organizing!

Smiley

6  BIG Santa Bulldog Hoopla in Needlework: Completed Projects by Powerhouseofthecell on: December 11, 2019 01:31:59 PM
I found a 12 hoop at a thrift shop and I knew I had to make it into a Christmas gift.  I chose a Santa bulldog because my brother-in-law and his girlfriend have the sweetest one you've ever met.  My kids love her.

7  Toddler poncho from fleece tie blanket in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Powerhouseofthecell on: December 07, 2019 12:16:37 PM
Bulky winter coats and car seats just dont mix, so I cut a hole in a fleece to blanket.  Tada!  Instant poncho!  I just lift the back and lay it over the car seat head rest.  Then he pulls his feet up under the poncho and snuggles in tight.  Cost: $0! If only I had thought about this before kid #5.

8  Fabric yoyo Christmas wreath & ugly Christmas sweater ornaments in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Powerhouseofthecell on: November 30, 2019 01:49:07 PM
I made this yoyo Christmas wreath for BigBangMomma. I used a charm pack titled, "Eat, Drink, and Be Ugly.  I used the fabric printed with ugly Christmas sweaters to make embroidered ornaments.  I'm so glad BBM took pictures because I forgot.  It looks like a few yoyos and the bow got a little squished during shipment, but I bet they will straighten back out.  I love making yoyos, but they take FOREVER.  I finally broke down and purchased a Clover yoyo maker.  I couldn't believe how quickly I knocked those little circles out!

9  Re: Color in a Box Swap 2019 Holiday Edition in The Swap Gallery by Powerhouseofthecell on: November 24, 2019 04:24:50 PM
Yesterday I received the most thoughtful turquoise themed package from BigBangMomma.  She was so thoughtful about everything she sent.  I have the best swap partner!

First, an adorable miniature penguin lunch box.  I wonder what's inside?

A handmade pincushion and pins!  And the fabric came from Jemimah (purple) and Edelc (blue front & back) in the monoprint on fabric swap.   BBM added "biology" to the back since that is the subject I teach.  I love, love, love it!  She even included turquoise pins.

Next, a hummingbird ornament.  BBM is passionate about hummingbirds.  I made her a merit badge that says, "Hummingbird Hoarder" a few months ago and now I have my very own hummingbird to remind me of her!

She also sent me this AMAZING nerdy beauty!  It's a white blood cell necklace.  I can hardly wait to wear it.

BBM found this on my Pinterest and made her own lovely turquoise version!

And now my absolute favorite!  Two Christmas tree dishcloths.  Look how lumpy bumpy they are!  Fantastic!  You know you're a middle-aged woman when you get *really* excited about good dishcloths.  Cheesy

BigBangMomma, thank you so much for this incredibly thoughtful swap package!

10  Wreath with school spirit! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Powerhouseofthecell on: November 15, 2019 05:11:58 AM
I made this wreath for my sister-in-law for Christmas. Her kids are super active in sports so I made a wreath in their school colors. There are a lot of flaws and I dislike the busy green and yellow alternating pattern, but its done! I have too many unfinished Christmas gift projects to go back and redo it. I think shell like it anyway.
