4  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Wellington on: April 17, 2006 12:05:36 AM
Well, I've been living here for awhile now, but I still don't really know all the exciting crafty places to buy supplies or handmade goods. In fact, I know barely anywhere! I only really goto Spotlight, Kirks and Knitworld for supplies, and I don't really know anywhere for handmade stuff.

Please share your knowledge! Smiley Any good cafe/restaurants would be appreciated too!
5  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Happy whales for sale + win a whale contest! on: February 22, 2006 02:51:54 PM
Hello fellow Kiwis - just thought I'd enlighten you all in case you would like to win a free whale!

Happy Whale Productions (http://freewebs.com/happywhaleproductions) has finally been updated, and there is another 6 whales for purchase!

Even better though, there is a contest going on for a free whale! Basically, I am surveying where my visitors are located and how they found the site. You don't have to purchase a whale, or have bought one in the past, so if you are interested just visit the site and click on the 'Win a Whale' button SmileySmiley
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / What would you pay for shipping from NZ? on: October 28, 2005 11:51:48 PM
Just looking at my shipping rates........

Would you prefer to pay

$4 - 3 -4 weeks
$5 - 1 -2 1/2 weeks?

I know this sounds like a no brainer, but seriously, NZ isn't a fast paced country......we don't worry so much if things take awhile!

Please let me know your preference Smiley (the cost of my products are usually $8 US)
7  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Where to submit promotional Media Release for my site? on: October 21, 2005 12:33:01 AM

I have written a Media release for my website. I was wondering if anyone has a good idea of where to submit it?

Thanks, Belinda Smiley

9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / What do you think these are worth?? (IMGS) on: October 18, 2005 04:09:05 PM
I've posted a few times on here, and fellow craftsters are so helpful and friendly, so I thought I would ask your opinions again.

For those that haven't seen me around before, my name is Belinda and I run a website called happy whale productions - http://freewebs.com/happywhaleproductions. I sell small, handmade stuffie whales in a variety of colours, from my home in New Zealand.

I have had an amount of international customers, and they have commented on how cheap the whales seem to be. Because international shipping is $4 USD, I like to keep my prices down. The whales are currently $8USD. However, I have also had some people say this is too low - it makes it seem like the whales are inferior products.

I'm in a bit of a muddle, as I fear that putting my prices up furthur will decrease sales. I have only sold one since the price went up (used to be $6, but after fees it began to get a bit pointless..) and I'm scared no one else will want to buy them - but I don't want people thinking they aren't made well!

I put a lot of effort into these whales, so I was just wondering some opinions on what you HONESTLY think they are worth - and whether this is too high or too low?
