11  Audrey Hepburn and Amalie in Stenciling: Completed Projects by eowynmn on: September 19, 2005 06:39:46 PM
I made these for my best friend for a birthday present - wasn't going ot share until I added the studded "A" to the Audrey shirt. It works best because my friend's name just happens to start with an A.  WOOHOO!

I found this stencil....somewhere online and what a pain in the arse to cut out, but I'm super excited with how it turned out and can't wait to do more.

14  Re: Please post your best costume... in Halloween Costumes by eowynmn on: September 15, 2005 10:47:25 AM
This is my favorite costume.  It's my supergirl costume I made for a science fiction convention (from scratch...including boots) and I will probably wear it for halloween.  Who knows.
My best friend is the wonderwoman - and together we made the batgirl costume for our other friend for a competition (and we won - yay!)

15  Re: Green Purse Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by eowynmn on: September 12, 2005 07:33:29 PM
Suzie penguin received mine too so I'm going to post pictures

I made this jordy style purse to be a book carrying/knitting bag - because she wanted something like that.
the fabric on the inside is mostly blue because its penguin fabric but it has a LITTLe green that coordinates with the polka dots.  Ok  so it clashes but suzie loves penguins and this is the only penguin fabric that had green WITHOUT christmas trees.
Anyway she likes it.
I closed it with a magnetic snap and I put a pocket for pencils and what not.

Here are ...pictures....

Showing the inside:

Again, hope she likes it!

I recieved my bag from suzie penguin today.

She made me a little chinese fabric with hot pink inside (my favorite color) clutch.
She also included extra fabric if I want to make a strap.
She also knitted me a cute little coin purse which is awesome cause I can't knit.
And she threw in little eyes and trinkits just because!
Thanks so much Suzie!

17  Re: can someone explain American food to an Aussie?? in Recipes and Cooking Tips by eowynmn on: September 12, 2005 08:21:57 AM
eowynmn -- yes, I'm a Minnesotan. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the fair this year. =( One of my favorite things to do is to explain the Pricess Kay of the Milky Way butter sculptures to foreigners. They make entertaining faces.

Just thought I would share this picture of me (the blonde) and my friend Amy who had never been to the Minnesota State fair before.  We are looking amazed at the guys making the DEEP FRIED CANDY BARS.
That's right.  they put candy bars on sticks (like snickers) and dip them in batter...deep fry them and cover them with powdered sugar.  HOWEVER, I have not tried one.

18  My first purse - Polka dots and red handles! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by eowynmn on: September 07, 2005 06:35:10 AM
I picked up a purse pattern for 99 cents and made this:

I'm kinda loving it.  At first I was wondering who the heck I would give it to, but I might just keep it.

This is the inside.  The two tabs are held together with a magnetic snap...which I would actually place in their differently if I did it again.  And there's a little pocket. ohhh pockets!

19  Fairy Costume Corset - Simplicity Fairy in Costumes: Completed Projects by eowynmn on: July 26, 2005 05:49:22 AM
I made the corset part of a costume I'm making for our local fantasy/ren fair.  It doesn't have a lot of support (as it's a costume pattern) so I think I'm going to put an extra bit of the pink fabric behind where the eyelets are so I can wear a strapless bra with it - or whenI'm all done the wings could cover that part.  I still have to make wings (and maybe the undershirt that goes with this) and the skirt with tiered ruffles.

Anyway I wanted to share because it's the first time I've done eyelets or any boning (only on the sides in this pattern) and I think it turned out ok).

Also, for the eyelets I used my scrapbook eyelet setter and hammer and it worked great.  I've heard people having trouble with the eyelet presser.  Sometimes the simple way is the best way.

The pattern I used was 4902

20  Sexy Haltertop dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by eowynmn on: July 16, 2005 07:52:27 PM
Hey i just finished this dress, which is the first dress I've made since I made a dress in my "learn how to sew class" so I went into it kinda assuming it wouldn't turn out, and now I'm loving it!

I made it with clearance satinfinished fabric at Joann's 2.20 a yard for 3 yards.  ( That's 6.60)
I used Simplicity pattern 4998

Iit actually does good for my figure...but my figure loosing 5 lbs would make the dress perfect.

Me thinking I'm hot stuff:
