591  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: kickin it old school: mix tapes on: July 28, 2005 09:15:22 PM
I thought old school was 8-tracks.  Cool

I remember making mix tapes, but I guess I didn't find it that fun. It took a lot of time to make sure the next song started at the right point.

But I do remember choosing the songs painstakingly quite fondly.  Grin
592  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: blocking help please! on: July 27, 2005 11:02:09 PM
i'm new to making garments, and i'm about to block my first piece. what i'm wondering is what happens when you wash the item after wearing it? is all the blocking ruined, or is shaping the garment as it dries enough?

That would depend on the fiber it's made from. Most sweaters will keep their shape after being sewn all together. For wool, it's usually enough to loosely pull it into shape while it's drying. You'd only need to block it again if it got pulled out of shape or something.

I'm a frogger. As much as it annoys me to have to rip it out, I can't stand knowing there's something wrong with my FO.  Shocked

Are you sure she doesn't like color? Just because she wears 'boring' colors doesn't mean she doesn't like bright colors, too. She just doesn't wear them.

Housewares sound good to me. Everyone can use 'em!
595  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: my stitches come right apart...? on: July 25, 2005 05:49:37 PM
What type of fabric and thread are you using? I had that happen to me last week when using polyester brocade with silk thread. They were incompatible, apparently. Once I switched to polyester thread, it was smooth sailing.

Love the stripes and the design!

I haven't been brave enough to make a dress yet...

Isnt the word for four the same word for death? Thats why the hospitals are much wider than they are tall, only 3 floors.

Heehee. (Nah, they just skip #4 when they're numbering floors. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6...  Smiley )

Although I love karaoke, I'm only 15 as of now. Do they have karaoke places for 15 year olds? Are they even age regulated at all?

Don't worry, you won't have any trouble finding karaoke places for teens. There are LOTS of cool places for teens in Japan. Arcades that put other countries to shame! Karaoke! Clubs! Fun stuff.  Grin

Food is also a good idea. Most Japanese people live in very small homes or apartments, so they don't have a lot of room for collecting things. Food's good since it doesn't take up space once it's eaten.

Have fun!

You can also put a mirror in front of her, then watch the mirror instead of her. That's what my (left-handed) mom did for me (right-handed).
