1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Soaps! on: November 10, 2006 11:06:17 AM
Please excuse me if this has been posted before!

My mother and I are looking to do some craft shows in the beginning if December. Not having the time or money to invest in my jewelry hobby, I figured I would try something new: m&p soap making. It seems fun, easy and quick.

I'm looking to make a $100 investment [I have nothing as of right now], meaning I'll be buying glycerin, herbs, dyes, etc...

My question is...is soap making something that could be profitable at a craft show? Do people buy soaps? Do any of you have any personal experiences or stories to share?

I'd rather find out now if there's a market for it rather than make 230857629 soaps that don't sell. A girl can only use so much soap!  Cheesy lol

Thanks a lot for reading and responding!  Wink
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Circle Skirt and Naked Brother! on: July 17, 2006 01:36:50 PM
Ok, so he's not totally naked. He's 5 and wanted to catch a little bit of the glory.

This skirt is a product of a lot of hope and frustration. I'm not too amazing at sewing and I just wanted to crank something out. I'll make one later this week and it will look a lot better.

For my first real sewing project, I think it came out fairly well!  Cheesy

4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Yabble Babble on: January 23, 2006 01:08:15 PM
I just came across this website:

It is similar to etsy and ecrafter in the way that crafters can sell what they make on there. However, the rules are a little different.

Does anybody use this to sell their stuff? I want to know if its worth it and if the website actually gets any traffic. I sold in a consignment website that supposedly got lots of visitors but it seemed like nobody sold anything, including me.

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Help. With Stupid Fabric Paper. on: January 10, 2006 04:17:41 PM
Hey! If this is in the wrong forum, let me know.

I got quilting paper ages ago as I gift after I saw it on a quilting show. Its 8 1/2 by 11 inches sheets of fabric backed by paper. You load them into your printer, print your design and the paper helps to guide it through. Your take off the paper back and craft away.

Heres the thing: I dont quilt! I dont really have a desire to, either. I was hoping to make a bag little applique with it, but Im not sure. I have three sheets of this paper and a major mental block.

Any idea of what I can do with this schtuff?!
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Fruit Charm Bracelet [Spoiler for RCKFELLA!] on: January 08, 2006 02:03:11 PM
I made this bracelet for the 2006 wishlist swap. The wish was a fruit and veggie charm bracelet, so this is what I came up with!

Entire bracelet.

First half.

Second half.

Close up!

I did NOT draw the pictures. I got them off of a clipart website that I cannot find the link to at the moment. I will continue to search and when I come across it, I will edit this.

Shh! Dont tell RCKFELLA what she got!

10  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Ribbed for His Pleasure on: December 25, 2005 12:03:32 PM
I made the 'Ribbed for Her Pleasure' scarf for my boyfriend. I think its pretty unisex in grey.

I started it in August and left it in my closet for months and months. Then, I realized how close Christmas was and I started knitting like a maniac. For instance, I would bring it to school and knit during study hall. One week and almost six feet later, it is done.

He will be recieving it in a few hours and I'll let you guys know what he thinks!  Grin

Two entire skeins. Whew.

Close up on the ribbing.
