4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Summer maxi dress on: May 16, 2013 03:57:49 AM
I came across a pic of this dress, but I couldn't find it's original post.

It looks very easy to make, but still, if anyone knows if it's a diy dress, and if there is a tutorial or more pictures of it's back- that would help.
If anyone got any information about it, or even where they sell a similar style, I would be thankful!

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Dresses and shirts on: July 23, 2011 06:39:11 AM
It's been so long since I've posted my clothes here (I missed craftsters!!!) so this way I have a bunch of old and new things to post.

I don't really use any patterns, most of the time I just take an existing garment that sits well on me, I trace the parts I need (like shoulders for example), and than make all the needed changes - width, length, etc.

These two shirts are very much alike, only the neckline and the length are different.

This one can be worn both as a shirt and as a dress.

Another shirt that I like to wear with a belt, it's made with a wrinkled sheer fabric.

This is a jersey summer dress (can be worn in the winter as well, paired with some tights).

This is my latest summer dress, super easy to make since it doesn't really follow your figure.
It's made with a sheer fabric so I wear it with a black tube dress underneath.

The next two dresses are made almost the same way the yellow dress but they are made with a Lycra (the stretchy fabric, hope this is the right name), this way the are tighter.
The black dress is longer and can be worn in different lengths, I fold it on the bottom any way, so it looks good both ways.

This is an evening dress ( the most complicated I've made so far), it has a collar (screwed it up) and some gathered sleeves (which are very uncomfortable since the fabric doesn't stretch). But overall I'm very pleased with it, and I guess the imperfections aren't "that" noticeable (at least I hope so).

A closeup

Thank you for taking a look, let me know what do you think!
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / 2 high waisted skirts on: July 23, 2011 05:59:57 AM
Found some old pair of pants and a skirt that used to belong to my mom... wanted some high waisted skirts for a long time...

Here is the result -

This one used to be the pants, unfortunately they are one size too big for me - but that is solved with a belt.
I just cut off the legs, straightened the crotch and hemmed it, this way all the beautiful details and pockets are maintained.

This one used to be a long skirt, was too big  as well - so I inserted a new elastic.

I'm in love with them, the can be worn in many different combinations and styles.

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Nobel's chair on: June 21, 2011 11:40:59 AM
Hey there!
I almost finished my first year of architecture. And wanted to share with you one of my projects for the design (?) class (well I don't have a better translation, that's how we call it here..hh)

We were supposed to chose a famous character - mine was Alfred Bernhard Nobel. After some research on the character we were supposed to make a chair for him.

When I did my research about Nobel I found out many things I didn't know like the fact that he was born in Stockholm, then moved to Saint Petersburg, then studied in the United States, had many bussines in all Europe, and finished his life in San Remo.

I loved this traveling theme - for being a huge voyage lover, and the fact that I was too born in one country and living in another.
One other thing I found out is that he loved literature, but his futher pushed him to study chemistry. I guess some of us would know this tearing feeling betwen arts and some other scientific profession.

So I found an old briefcase at the flea market, added it some legs, paint and decoupage. Placed it in my faculty to show his journey toward knowledge as well.

And here it is -

Thanks for taking a look.
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Mini Wreaths on: August 11, 2009 08:52:47 AM
So I've seen these yarn wreaths - and I got inspired.
The problem was that I only had little hoops (diameter 8 cm [3 inch])
But it was fun anyway, and they look great hanging on a wall or outside!

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Jewelry Holder on: July 26, 2009 09:00:00 AM
Hey there!

(This is a project I made a few year ago, and I finally decided to share!  Grin)
I had a problem with all my jewelry being in many different places, and I wouldn't wear them since I totally forgot of their existence.
So I've decided to put them all in one place - in me closet, so I can choose what to wear with each outfit.

I took some wooden boards, covered them with fabric and nailed some nails I took from my dad. Attached the boards to the door of the closet (from the inside) with double stick foam tape.
Now everything is organized and easy to access.

So what do you think?
10  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Wedding Gift on: March 03, 2009 11:14:35 AM
My friend is getting married (well, technically she's already married, but now she's having a big party).
So I've decided that I want to make her a little handmade present, especially for the wedding and for her....

so here is what I came up with...

Thet's how it looks inside the box

And that's how it looks all together

There are:
Jewelry box
Matching picture frame
Nacklace inside the bag

Except the box, which I've bought, everything is handmade by me!
