1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Roses on: May 10, 2009 04:44:45 PM
I just liberated a ton of roses from my work that were meant for Mother's Day and were left over. I didn't want to throw them out so I took them home. I now have probably around 40 roses and I'm not sure what I should do with them. It's the flowers only all the stems had been cut off.
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / But those were my favorite.... on: August 11, 2007 09:36:03 PM
So I was watching TV with my boyfriend, waiting for our pizza to get here, and put my knitting down on the couch when it did. I couldn't find the check I wrote and went to look for it, in the process I put my  knee into the middle of my favorite needle and now the wood is splintered in the middle...

Any one know a way I could fix it, I don't have the money to replace them.  Cry
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Needing help with a sweater on: May 22, 2007 10:05:15 PM

I've been working on the Men's Raglan Zipper Cardigan from Last Minute Knitted Gifts and I'm stuck on the increase in the sleeve. I'm sure I'm just over thinking it but here's what the pattern says:

Kf&b, k to last st, kf&b- 2 sts increased. Work increased sts inot the k4,p4 pattern as they become available. Work 7 rnds even. Repeat last 8 rnds 10 more times.

Wouldn't that completely throw off the 4x4 pattern or am I just really over thinking this? Plus having that k row in the 4x4 seemed like an eye sore to me.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Needing help with a substitution on: March 18, 2007 01:18:29 PM
Does anyone know a good sub for Blue Sky Alpaca Sportsweight? I really want to knit one of their patterns but I cannot afford the yarn.
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Gift for Dad going to Kuwait on: February 08, 2007 07:51:21 PM
I haven't seen my Dad in two years and I just found out today that he's being deported to Kuwait for a year. I want to make him something, but I'm not sure what and since he's in Turkey now it can't look suspious either. I likes video games and he's a civil engineer in the Air Force. It's been so long since I've seen him tough and we don't get to talk much so I'm completely stumped and I want it to be really special...
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Manos del Uruguary Subsitute on: December 29, 2006 01:02:11 PM
Are there any good and cheaper subsistutes for Manos del Uruguary's wool yarn, it's too expensive for me and the one I was looking at on KnitPicks is sold out. It's a late Christmas gift, I know I'm bad, but I need to buy the yarn soon. Maybe on Ebay?
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / PJ Pants on: September 30, 2006 11:27:46 PM
Hi I feel kinda silly, but I found this really cute fleece and I want to make PJ pants out of them, but I've never sewn clothing, though I want to and figured this would be a nice easy first project. Does any one know any good patterns, or even better, a free turorial on what to do?
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help with Yarn Substitution/Recomendations on: September 15, 2006 09:21:45 PM
I want to make the embroidered knee high socks in the newest Vogue. They look really fun, but the recommended yarn would end up costing me over $50 and I've never used it before so I'm looking for either good yarn subsitiutions or if someone has used the yarn before (it's Nashua Handknits/Westminster Fibers Julia) would you recommend putting the $50 down on it?

9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / A Newbish Sewing Question on: July 18, 2006 11:57:19 AM
A really good friend of mine has recently been having me help him clean is room. It's no small task, the room hasn't been touched in years and he's a huge pack rat. But he's been doing a really good job of throwing out old papers and pulling out old stuff he doesn't need anymore to donate. The last time I was over helping I uncovered this shirt:

He told me that it was his favorite, but it's really old and coming apart so he's just been holding onto it not wanting to seperate from it. I told him that I could just turn it into a pillow, that way it can still be used.

I'm a knitter mostly. I don't really sew I'd love to but I just haven't gotten around to teaching myself yet. So I'm mainly looking for so tips. I figure it's an easy recon and I can figure it out so I feel really silly asking. The biggest issue I see is that around the dragon there are a few rips:

Sorry the pics kinda suck I still don't have a camera and my room's lighting is horrible.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Anyone Ever Use This Yarn? on: July 14, 2006 08:02:09 PM
My parents just sent me a huge thing of yarn, by the looks of it someone's stash. I think that it may have been from the lady who taught me the knit stitch last summer. Anyways it's a lot of yarn I have pics in my blog if you care to see.

What I'm really interested in is a Turkish brand yarn Ciner. I have 2 full things of it and 2 that have been used. It says it's 100 gr and +/- 5 gr. Anyone know what that means? It also feels like microfiber. I wanna make something with it but I'm not sure how much even one has in it.

Then I got a lot of Colorado Yarns Knitaly. I have 2 of a green/brown mix, lavander, purple, dark grey, and 1 of a maroon and 1 other of grey. They have 215yds/100g per skein and I want to make something out of it for sure.

Has any one used either?
And could someone suggest patterns for the Knitaly yarn? I'm hoping to make a top for myself. Thankies
