1  A Newbish Sewing Question in Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions by neko neko kitty on: July 18, 2006 11:57:19 AM
A really good friend of mine has recently been having me help him clean is room. It's no small task, the room hasn't been touched in years and he's a huge pack rat. But he's been doing a really good job of throwing out old papers and pulling out old stuff he doesn't need anymore to donate. The last time I was over helping I uncovered this shirt:

He told me that it was his favorite, but it's really old and coming apart so he's just been holding onto it not wanting to seperate from it. I told him that I could just turn it into a pillow, that way it can still be used.

I'm a knitter mostly. I don't really sew I'd love to but I just haven't gotten around to teaching myself yet. So I'm mainly looking for so tips. I figure it's an easy recon and I can figure it out so I feel really silly asking. The biggest issue I see is that around the dragon there are a few rips:

Sorry the pics kinda suck I still don't have a camera and my room's lighting is horrible.

2  Newbie with a lot of questions in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions by neko neko kitty on: July 08, 2006 07:35:37 PM
For Christmas (I know it's early but last year I was late, I have 3 done already) I'm planning on making my friend a plushie of his avi on GaiaOnline. Problem is I've never made one, aside from knitted animals, before and I'm not sure where to start. I guess I'll start with a pic of the avi:

I have felt to do a mock up of it before I invest in something nicer for the final product. Also he has a studded collar under a nitemare collar under the sash, cape, and scarf. I though it would be neat to have them removable to reveal the nitemare collar then have that be removable to reveal the other one. Would that be possible/worth it?

Oh, there's also a chain wallet hiding there. For the chain I figured I'd just use a thin piece of chain from an old necklace of mine.

I'm basically the type of person to once I get a nudge in the right direction can figure it out pretty quick. Are there any good sites that can get me a basic pattern to get me started? Do you guys have any tips/tricks?

Okay, I stopped posting FOs because it was too much of a hassal with my webcam. My Grandma sent me an old digital cam she had lying around so I decided to test it out... I'm debating on keeping it or not. My webcam has much better quality but it's almost impossible  to take decent pictures with it half the time. But anyway I finished an Airy Scarf a little while back, well I finished three, two for Xmas, and one for me. I'm happy since I never knit myself anything So anyway the pics:

I did forget one of the repeats in the middle, so it's a bit shorter than it should have been, which is the main reason its for me. I also have enough yarn left for one more I think.

This was also my first time working with the Kid Silk Haze. I love this yarn so much, I was surprised at how soft it was.
