1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / I got you Babe! on: November 03, 2009 12:52:13 PM
My fiance and I went as Sonny and Cher this year! But with a small twist, I was Sonny and he was Cher! It was awesome! I got a lot of compliments on his outfit and mine.

Here's my inspiration photos:

And here's us together!

And Full bodies of us each:

I made his dress from scratch, altering the African Dress pattern at Burda Style:http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/the-african-dress
And I also altered my vest from the Anthony Vest pattern at Burda Style:http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/antony-vest; you can see I had some troubles with the vest and the dress. My guy lives 2 hours away so I wasn't able to fit it on him more than once. As for my vest, I first didn't make the front long enough (the first extra seam on the bottom) and then while I was pressing the seams, I melted the shoulder Sad (the upper second seam) But nobody at my party seamed to notice! I bought and altered my pants and bought the shirt as is!

I also ran into Sonny wig troubles, was unwilling to pay for his wig and attempted to alter my own and just DESTROYED the thing, so my own hair had to do!
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Goldfish Painting! on: October 22, 2009 07:42:25 PM
This is my first painting ever! It is acrylic on canvas. It took me about a week or so to get this done, about 20-40 minutes a day. I did not attempt any highlighting or shadow, because I know that is not something that I am good at. I'm very excited about this painting and I hope to make more in the future!
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Super HUGE Stocking of Doom on: January 09, 2009 10:20:58 AM
I most Definitely used the wrong Gage to crochet this... But once I figured that out I continued on anyway! I made this for my boyfriend, since he wasn't doing anything for Christmas. I filled it with a whole bunch of other things I bought him for the occasion. Although it is HUGE! It was really simple and enjoyable, and next time I'll just keep making more and turn it into a blanket! (Which is what he thought it was when he first spied it.)

(my mom modeling the beast for me)

I ran out of the dark green, so I finished up with the dark blue in spaces.

I used the Jingle Bells Stocking from FreePatterns.com
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Sentimental Tote for my Pals 21st on: March 06, 2008 12:38:18 PM
I made this bag for my pal who transfered schools last year, so we no longer get to hang as we are on opposite coastlines. Sad But I love the way this thang turned out... it was very cooperative. I edited the stencil, painted the stencil and sew the bag myself.... all hand made!

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Flower Scarf on: March 06, 2008 12:36:24 PM
I saw these all over the internet for some time and decided to try it myself. I like the way it turned out, but I pawned on my mom anyway. Smiley

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first attempts at beanies and socks! on: March 06, 2008 12:28:22 PM
So I went crazy for christmas, and post-christmas and valentines day. I made my brother a beanie and socks in padres colors for chritmas, and then a non-matching beanie and socks for my boyfriend for v-day. Same pattern for both, with slight aesthetic adjustments!

Boy Friends Socks:

Brothers Socks:

Brothers beanie (and the key-hole scarf I made mom modeled by the bro)

I got both the beanie and the sock pattern from Knitty.com (Thuja was the sock pattern, I don't remember which I used for the beanie.)
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Transformers, Ghost and the Darkness and more!(img happy) on: July 28, 2007 08:06:30 AM
So the boy has his birthday coming up, so I've been stenciling like mad! Usually I'm a sewer, but it's a little hard to find things to sew for guys.

First Up: Transformers Stein

Second: Ghost and the Darkness Shirt(his favorite movie ever!)

Last: Stenciled Canvas frame of a picture of the2 of us(I was getting a little tired of framing actual pictures....)

8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / So confused. on: July 06, 2007 08:48:37 PM
This fun project of mine has turned into nothing but confusion. I dont understand this one part of the directions and there's an abbreviation I don't recognize, and as of yet have been unable to find in a reference either. The abbreviation is 'ss'. The directions go as follows:

Base: ch 43
1st rnd: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in ea ch to end of chain. do not turn Working into other side of ch, work 1 sc in ea rem loop of ch. Join with ss to first sc. 84 sc.

I get it up to the do not turn bit. I may have tried a pattern a bit over my head. Thanks for any help!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help needed for a valentines scarf. on: January 26, 2007 05:39:46 PM
So I'm knitting this scarf for my boyfriend for Valentien's Day. I consider myself a beginer, since the only completed project I ever made was a one colored scarf for my mom for christmast using the knit stitch. For this scarf I am making I have two colors, the main begin black and the accent being red. What he requested was a bakc scarf with a red heart, but I know neither how to change between colors nor how to use a chart or whatever to knit in the heart. Here is an idea of what I want to do:

My questions are how do I change between colors with out the yarn not in use cutting across all my knitting and how would I map this beastie out? Thanks for any help!
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / I Crew for the Row Team sweatshirt on: January 15, 2007 08:50:50 AM
Thanks to a little joke between my boyfriends sister and I I came up with the idea for this very Harry Potter-esque crew neck sweatshirt. The letters are felt on felt sewn together with embroidery floss. The front patch-thing is black embroidery Floss on felt, featuring the logo of my colleges Crew Team (for whom I row)

The back:

The Front:

She could never remember that I was on the Crew team... only that I rowed, so she always asked me about 'The Row Team' knowing she was trying to be funny. I think I'll have to make her a shirt that says that next.
